A template claim .ooo..scary ..NOT. Love to see them evidence the increase from £150 to £265 just for sending a couple of templated letters !

Thanks all - much appreciated. Has given me much more confidence to continue to ignore. What is likely to be the next letter I receive?0

I expect they will revert back to type and use their usual letter-chain if that one does not work. See the top thread - BTW can you add your letter there please in a reply for Crabman or by pm?
And that wording is shockingly misleading. Please send a copy to Trading Standards with a complaint about the misleading wording.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

What a load of bollox,
1 Why would they need to use a solicitor to draft what they have already drafted ?
2 What is £50 court costs about ?
3 What is £110 solicitors fees about ?
Love to see them justify the "damages" its either a scare tactic or someone in their office have not been taken their tablets!0 -
I was sent a Parking Contravention notice from civil enforcement ltd. The car park in question in Greenock requires users to pay within the shopping mall - the Oak Mall I attempted on the 21st September 2011 to pay my money into the machine and to register my vehicle but the machine did not accept my money and did not register my vehicle. There was no one to contact to advise them of this fact. I sought advice from Strathclyde police who are aware of this company and their practices and they advised not to pay this. I have used this car park on several occasions and have always paid but on this occasion I could not because of the faulty machine. The parking contravention charges are higher than any incurred in a "public" car park and I would suggest that this land is not owned privately but is owned by the council therefore how can they get away with this? Surely the council must be aware of these shoddy practices?0

Another day, another old thread bumped again.
You have presumably missed all the important/current info on this forum if you have only seen this little old thread! Don't get me wrong, it's not your fault of course but it means you get less replies and you have I expect, so far completely missed the info 'stickies' (permanent threads at the top of a any forum).
I assume you randomly found this old thread, presumably from a Google search, then did not take a step back to look at the current threads on this board:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
You just needed to click on the link before the thread name in the 'Home > Forums > etc.' blue link chain at the top of this page. That's always the best bet when landing on an old thread in any forum, always click on the > link immediately before the thread title in the 'Home >...' link chain at the top.
Read the stickies at the top of the current forum view, you seem to be taking the scam too seriously what with referring to the Police and the Council - neither of whom will be interested - but good on the copper who told you to ignore the scammers!
Relax and just tick off each letter in the chain (see the top sticky thread). Also read 'welcome, please read before posting' and watch the Watchdog video. It's what the sticky threads are on forums for, to inform newbies, and you will be very sure about this scam once you have read the right, current threads here.PRIVATE 'PCN'? Clearly designed to intimidate and a load of bolleaux to boot.
Just for starters whilst they can claim for a solicitor's fee for preparing the court papers the maximum fee (recently increased) is £90 and the fact that they have the papers part-prepared themselves is going to call into question the justification for the fee.
Then court costs of £50? They can claim the filing fee and if their "solicitor" intends to issue proceedings via MCOL (Northampton County Court certainly suggests that is the intended route) then the filing fee is a lot less than £50.
Based on this performance somebody at CEL has something of a sense of humour.
Given this cheap shot I thought you might like to know that CEL are not based at Horton Flags, nor even in Liverpool. That address is simply a mail drop. There were indications that they operated from an address in central Nottingham but the truth is that CEL are actually based in an otherwise anonymous business centre in Barnet, and the real owner is one Gary Wayne. Mr Wayne has always shunned publicity but the Daily mail caught up with him some years ago - Read Here
This is a pic we have of him - sorry its a bit small. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Surely this is a form of fraud with these parking companies... why aren't the Police arresting and prosecuting them?
Anyone see the TV programme about bailiff companies on 31 October last night..
I think we need a Mr Moat type guy to invite a bailiff in .... administer a high voltage stun gun to him or them...... handcuff the aforementioned bailiff round the pole of a traffic sign or lampost ..... add on a old tyre to the head the bailiff and douse in a suitable set of accelerant.... petrol mixed with a degree of water and oil ...(to slow burn) at distance set light to the aforementioned bailiff ....film..
Put the footage on utube and Panorama.. as a warning!0 -
Seems somewhat extreme.
