Hi I to was caught out by this scam. I have managed to cancel my so called order with this awful company. The scam is hidden in the 30 day money back garanty, but not in the terms and conditions like it should be.
It is the number written there people have to ring to cancel and also let your bank or credit card company know you want to block further payments to this company.0 -
Hi guys, i nearly feel for this but luckily i read first your thoughts and comments. Just for info you cancancel your card just say you have lost your card and you get a replacement freewithout question. I know it is a oinconvienience but better than being billed for things you dont want. I find this advert very misleading. Wish you all the best x0

hi I ordered free trial but post and packaging was £5 95. I have just been charged nearly £60. Stupidly just after ordering it I saw the reviews I went into the order confirmation and e mailed the customer service department cancelling any future orders. I assumed that was the end of it and deleted all the information. I have contacted my bank and they are writing to their bank to cancel any future payments. My question is because everyone else seems to have been charged around £2 for p&p is this same company the address on the container is Slone Health products in Tampa Florida0

I read this thread with great frustration and embarrassment (sp!) as I too have become a victim of this awful scam. I know it is easy saying it after it has happened but I have never done anything like this before and am always so careful. Obviously not this time. On the 8th Oct 09 I signed up to what i thought was a free trial of Acai Berry pills from Life Cleanse @ www.effecticecleanse.com I thought nothing of it, got my tablets and was charged p&p as expected. Last week I then receive another 2 bottles of different tablets and alarm bells started to ring. Got the bank statment through this week and OMG I have been charged a total of £230 over the period of 4 weeks from 3 different companies. We phoned the bank who gave us the numbers to each of these companies and to ring for a cancellation number and confirm the date and time.
The bank said they are getting thousands of people falling for these scams and said as I signed up with their t&c's they could not refund me any money back but once I have a cancellation number if the company tried to take more money the bank will refund me and not let them. I called up each company, even one in USA and got my numbers.
Basically this one company Effectivecleanse.com/Life Cleanse takes the initial trial and bank details then it passes your details and bank details to other companies that work underneath that umbrella and they then start charging your account etc.
Although I knew I did not read or come across and t&c's whilst proceeding through the free trial they are at the bottom of the main page in small. They were far from clear and were not even mentioned whilst signing up for your free trial.
It is crap and can't believe it happened to me. Now we have no money fpr christmas and no way of buying our 4 yr old twin any presents for xmas, let alone me or my husband. Not sure why alarm bells did not start ringing but they didn't. Can't change the clock back but I can make sure I do not ever fall for anything like that again.0 -

and has anyone actualy verified that the address they've given is a comercial or private one. would be worth looking into as a lot of these scams are one man operated. ive looked on google earth and couldnt find it but my eyes arent that good also tried the bussiness finder for that area but to no avail.
is there no one out there with any kind of "pull" who could investigate on our behalf?
dont know what my husband is gonna say when the money starts dissapearing from our account cos hes about to be "laid off "at work.
Hi I was wondering if you was successful in getting your money back and if so how you did? I have just been sucked into this scam. I have recently had a baby and am struggling to loose the weight. I was on my computer and seen them advertised at the side of the screen. I foolishly read into it and thought i would give it a try. I used my visa debit card. I got the tabletsand an invoice of p and p and never thought anymore. Then I recieved two more packs and invoice of two seperate £82. I got my bank statement and they have took over £3oo. I sent them back asking for a full refund but not yet heard anything.
I have cancelled my card but sill do not feel safe so i am going to completley close my account. Has anyone got their money back?
Can we not get these companies on the news, watchdog etc...? there is obviously alot of us that have been conned so surley something can be done about this.
Please respond I am deeply upset and this has come at such a bad time moneywise. I am on maternity and it is near Christmas. I feel so stupid.
Thanks

I got mymoney back. You just have to be very persistent. It helps if you cancelled within the 15 day deadline, as I did. They try to fob yuou oft but I kept insisting on my rights and threatening them with all kinds of action (which I would definitely have taken) and finally they caved.
My story is on the thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1823427
You must be persistent. Also, my bank agreed to pursue the matter and sent me forms to fill in, in which I claimed back the money. Finalythough I did not need to do this.
Good luck.Lisa_PLEASE_HELP wrote: »Hi I was wondering if you was successful in getting your money back and if so how you did? I have just been sucked into this scam. Hi
I've just joint this site to post this. There's a new twist on the acai scam and it might be the firm's undoing.
I replied to a freelance writing job ad on Craigslist, itself a hotbed of scams. I got a reply telling me I had an assignment - it was all very professional. Except there was no web-site for the 'company' that supplied articles to businesses up and down the country.
Anyway, the assignment required me to get a free sample of the acai berry product from the site we all love so much. I went into the site but did see the small print about the cancellation period and recurring amounts, so thought no way.
I wrote to the jobposter, briefly thinking they were legit. Her name - Joanne Berry ! can you believe. Obviously it was a scam.
But, the person must have some involvement with the acai berry company otherwise they wouldn't direct you there. Now I've reported it to Craigslist and will be reporting it elsewhere, just as soon as I can think of who'd be interested.
But I thought you all might be. Up until now, this scam has just suckered in people going to it to lose wight and they've operated just within the law. But this is slightly different. They're using another method to get people to go to the site, so I think they might be overdoing it now.
What do you think?0 -
Hi
I too have just joined this site to post this. I don't know why I decided to check about acai berry and colon cleanse but I am glad I did. I received my 'free sample' this week and luckily I kept the invoice which came with them. There was an 0808 number (along with american and french numbers) which I have just rung and yes ofcourse I have 15 days to cancel. I have cancelled and made a note of the cancellation number. I wait to see whether this has indeed cancelled the order and will keep you informed. In the meantime a big thank you to everyone who has posted this thread and thank goodness for the instinct which made me read it.0 -
I seriously considered getting a combination of Acai and Creatine tablets to "Get ripped in 4 weeks" and then checked the small print.
I checked what was in the tablets and found that Holland and Barrett throughout england can supply 120 Acai tablets for £15.00 (500MG in strenght) and 120/240 Creatine tablets for £25.
I now have a tub of Acai for £10 as they were on offer...I feel I've saved more money than a free trial could offer.
Also, the postage for 14 pills costs more than the price paid for 14 pills within this bottle! (120/1000=12pence per pill. 12 X 14pills = £1.68
Do the math, go shopping in the UK! Keep businesses thriving in the UK. If you dont want to spend £10, ask a friend to go halves with you and share a tub. Cant comment whether they work or not as i've not opened them yet but may post back soon.0 -
Anyway, neither will get you ripped in 4 weeks. That takes dull things like strict diet, appropriate training, and a low-ish body fat percentage and reasonable muscle mass before you start the 4 weeks
There's not good reason to think Acai will do anything that a healthy diet won't. Creatine can be useful for athletes, but something to use alongside good diet and training for fairly small extra benefits - not a miracle pill or powder.0
