  • I too was captured by this - but I did see the small print just didn't get to it in time. Also missed the fact that the 'additional free item' was added to the account and incurred simlar high monthy recurring costs. I have listed my post from another part here in case it helps - but I know that there are lots of different compnaies doing this...

There are other threads on MSE asking how to get out of these scams before the charges are incurred or mount up.

I have just received the free trial products for Acai Ultra and for Purelife Clense. I rang the tel number on the dispatch note. For Pure Life Clense it was +44 (0) 808 101 0929 but it went through to an answer machine saying it was out of working hours. Other threads had warned of this.

I then telephoned Acai Ultra +44(0)808 168 3684 and this went through to an operator. I was relieved. She took my name details and I was told I had two accounts with the company - this was from accepting a free add in during the original submission of details. Although I did see the small print and note I had to cancell in order to prevent charged, I did not realise that would also attract a big bill. She then assured my that there would be no further charges on my accounts. I have no way of ensuring this but will check with the bank.

On the off chance that the companies were link - beacuse the ads were linked - I asked the operator about the colon clense company. She did not however when I asked about the product PureLife Clense she did know about that and was again able to cancel the dispatches and again reassure me that no further charges would be made. I await the outcome for that as well but at least I feel a little more hopeful that this scam is undercontrol.

I have listed the details of the products I got in case it helps someone else solve this. I will also post if it is succesful or not.

Acai Ultra - tel +44 (0) 808 168 3684 under company name Revitalize Health & Beauty at PO Box 13583, Linlithgow, West Lothian, EH49 9AP, UK
This company also listed HCG which was a free add on and attracts similar costs.

PureLife Clense - tel +44 (0) 808 8101 0929 [went to answer phone] under company name Healthy Ways also at PO Box 13583, Linlithgow, West Lothian, EH49 9AP, UK.

    Thank you

    OB

Feel a bit of a fool having now read the posts on this matter. Anyway i just wanted to check if the company is correct in telling me that I can only be refunded for the last of 3 x paid for deliveries I have been sent.

After an e-mail exchange in which Nutra Sceince offering a refund for the fourth of four packages I received I sent back the last two deliveries. They acknowledged receipt by e-mail but said I am only entitled to a refund for the fourth delivery and not previous ones because: "Just to confirm we are only able to offer refunds on products returned within 30 days of being sent, this is why you were only refunded for the last order sent to you. UK distance selling regulations actually state that you must notify the company about your intention to return a product within 7 days of receiving it. We give you 30 days but are unable to offer refunds on products not returned within this time. I have already expressed this in the previous email. There will be no other refunds issued."

Can anyone advise if this statement is legally correct and I have to accept a loss of £150?

    Many thanks,
  • Beware of yet another fake news acai /colon scam website currently being widely advertised on Google Adwords and other sites.

The site is trimrecipe.com/report/britain/indexgab.php?&t202kw=scam but there are also German and South African versions.

The site contains the usual fake before/after photos, fake stories, fake quotes attributed to BBC News, Good Food and the Daily Mirror etc and promotes a product called Avilean as well as some colon cleanse crap.

Avilean (avilean.co.uk and .de) is owned by this company in America:

Looks like this site is a poor rip off of a Jesse Willms site.

You always know a site is doing something funny when they use Exit Splash to stop you from leave the site.....lol
  • Hmm, I wonder if this Thomas Cheng:

is the same Thomas Cheng featured in this 2005 news report:

"Shawn Talbott of Utah and marketer Thomas Cheng of Fullerton are banned from making claims about any future pills and potions that aren't supported by reputable scientific studies.

Cheng and his Brea-based Pinnacle Marketing Concepts agreed to give the FTC $700,000 cash, a $215,000 boat, a $40,000 Ford truck, $450,000 from real estate and $2 million from a charitable foundation and investment partnership funded by CortiSlim profits.

Cheng, who served time in federal prison in the 1990s for bootlegging CDs, didn't return a call seeking comment."

If it is, then the FTC will be even more interested in hearing about current activities.

  • Ads on Google Adwords leading to fake news sites / fake blogs with fake news stories, fake testimonials , fake before/after pictures, fake quotes etc:

    http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2395/scammygoogleadwordsads.jpg (screenshot)

    Ads lead to:
    dailydiettips.co.uk/canyou-loose-2-5-stone-in-4-weeks/
    superfitrecipes.com/health_news/britain/index4m.php

    Identical sites:

    ukhealthalert.com
    trimrecipe.com/report/britain/avilean.php

All that changes is the name of the scam product: SlimTonePlus BodyCleanse / NutraScience Diet NutraScience Pro Cleanse / Avilean - probably all from the same company.

  • I have always been really dubious about these kind of things and normally stay away, however after seeing the link on various celebrities twitter pages (which I now suppose were hacked) I stupidly got drawn in.

Thinking I was signing up for a free trial, I entered my card details for the Acai berry and colon cleanse seperate trials. The companies are 'TotalBodyWell' and 'NaturalHealthProd'.

I quickly realised after a quick scan of google what a mistake I had made, however it was too late.

I have cancelled my card, but I'm unsure as to how effective this will be. I also rang the companies this morning to cancel the order however they claimed it had already been dispatched and that no other charges except the postage would be taken, if I return the product when it's delivered.

I have also emailed the companies to put in writing that I wish to cancel the free trial and all future re-occurring shipments they were planning on sending me.

After checking my online banking so far only the postage has been withdrawn.

Has anyone else dealt with these companies and have any idea of the likelihood that they'll withdraw more money from my account?
  • i live in canada and got scammed from them too! i just called today and was able to cancell but for a fee of 19.95 :@ i dont understand how they can keep doing this to peoplE!
