• Those of you which have had money taken out of your account, was it because you never cancelled within the 14 day period or did you cancel and still have money taken out of your account€?

Shock horror - rip off internet diet pills company tells lies to protect their revenue!

Culex is right that they have no right to use that image, although it is the *photographer* who should chase them, and in turn should work out a deal with your friend for modelling fees. The image rights belong to the photographer, unless the photographer specifically and deliberately waived all rights and placed the picture in the public domain (unlikely). Get screenshots of the image being misused, and it should be a pretty simple and lucrative claim :)
• mind you, internet is very dirty and dangerous, especially if you are "free" trigger happy! lol! what i meant by that is usually those "free", as they say it, are not really free. they are traps and marketing strategies only. actually, there are a lot of scams out there, not just acai.

so my advise, as a user of acai slim, do not settle with the free trials scheme. buy the pills in pharmacies (if there are any) or order online (like i did) and make sure that you do not get "free". i bought my 2 acai slim bottles for AUD49 and used paypal so i can dispute if there will be any issue.

luckily, i am on my 3rd month now and lost 12.1 kilos and if i need more pills, i just order online again. there is no monthly charge or whatsoever.

so there you go:
1. do not be trapped with free trials.
2. buy the real thing
3. use paypal and not your credit card

just a concerned citizen,

OMG! I am such an idiot! I soooo wish i'd come into the forum before hitting the damn link in facebook! I never do stupid things like this but my weight loss attempts are, so far, failing. I should ahve known it was too good to be true.
I received the proactionacai & proaction hoodia (really?! - shoulda known) last night but no sign of the flamin colon cleanse and surprise surprise no e-mail confirmation from them!!
I'm heading home to cancel credit card.... How could I ahve been so stupid. I'm so embarrassed. feel sick too - that should help the weight loss! Only joking, really.

:(
• Hi,

I have very stupidly also fallen for th proactiondiet 'cleanse' and proactionacai 'offer', signposted through facebook, thinking I would cancel before the 14 days trial and not have to pay anymore than the postage. I ordered today.

However, I have tried to cancel my orders, also today, using the cancel request facility and rma request which is available on their websites.

I have had a confirmation of sorts from Proaction - the page it has diverted me to clearly records that I have requested the cancellation of these orders. Therefore, according to the terms and conditions no more charges should be taken from my account in the future (aside from the trial pills, if I dont send them back within 21 days, I could be charged £75 acai and £37.50 cleanse) as they are aware that I want to cancel. Is this right?

I am mostly concerned that my cancellation will not be accepted as it is over email and their website, not over the phone. I am worried that, anticipating future withdrawels from my bank, my bank will investigate this and find that because I didn't cancel over the phone, as stated I should in the t&c, it will not be a valid cancellation. I cannot get through to proaction on the phone, I'm just on hold for AGES!

I am hugely worried that I will be charged indefinately for this product and that my bank will not be able to help me cancel the account if I cant get through on the phone. Surely the bank will accept that Proaction has acknowledged my cancellation for future products?

Has anyone successfully got through to a member of staff on the 0800 012 2544 number to cancel? Does anyone know if this is free or hugely expensive?

As for the 14 day trial, return policy - if it takes £117.50 to learn my lession so be it. I just dont want that coming out of my account every month without being able to stop it!

My bank has advised that it would not be legal to close my bank account.

Thanks in anticipation,

I too wanted to help my daughter so I ordered the free trial and my credit card was billed for £128.35 for which I was at a loss, I tried the phones the emails with no success then finally took a good look a the email bill I was sent and checked the email address it was sent from. PausePain <no-reply@pausepain.com> And sent a email explaining that they had made a mistake and waited, the very next day I received a phone call ( twice ) from them Apologising profusely and was told that my money would be refunded. I received my credit card statement and sure enough they had done so. I hope this helps.:D

I can't believe this scam is still going on. Just the other day I clicked out of curiosity on a "get thin quick" link featured prominently, I think, on google. Guess what -- it was acai! I've already reported it to Watchdog -- maybe if we all reported it at once, again, they would take notice?

Proactionacai / Proactiondiet - most unhelpfull company wont refund my money this is a totla scam as i said earlier. I have reprted them to: Complaints board, IC3.Gov, FTC.gov, econsumer, Watchdog, and the Trading Standards - I have also sent over 600 emails just kept sending them as they send automatic generated emails - sent over 600 since 26th April just for the fun of it. I have sent a letter to them today at this address PO BOX 4802, Sheffield, S10 9FE - Stating my rights to a full refund under the Distance Selling Regulations - I will not give up until i get a full refund as they have never sent any products - just took £117.48 in total from my bank account. If you have had any dealings with this company then please don't give up if they have taken money from you then do all you can to get it back the more you fight the better your chances are of winning - I will let you know when i receive my refund.

Just as a response to you two, my flatmate ordered from these people without realising what she was getting into, so after tearing a few strips off of her, we have returned the bottles unopened 9 days after the order was placed so within the trial period and we sent it via special delivery (Royal Mail website says package has been delivered), I phoned them on the 0800 012 2544 number and got through to an American chap. I assume the call is free (I may check BT shortly) but they are based in America. He assured me that my flatmate would never be charged so she shall keep an eye on her bank balance.

Do not sign up to things via facebook and always read the smallprint on anything. If unsure, come to MSE - I found this thread via forum search in seconds. Lots of people will advise on lots of things here.

Here's hoping everyone gets a refund or does not get charged.

ETA - My BT online itemised billing shows no signs of any cost of the 0800 number redirecting to America.

ETA 2 - You can buy similar products on Amazon far cheaper without recurring card payments.

Hi,
I too was tempted by the offer from the advert on facebook and proceeded to order the free 14 day trial of Acai Berries, by paying a reduced delivery charge of £2.49.
I then thought I should check this out a bit further and saw all the emails and posts stating its a SCAM.
I contacted my bank immediately and confirmed no payments other than the £2.49 should be deducted from my account.
I responded to the order email confirmation I received confirming I wished to cancel.
I tried calling the cancellation number 5 times, no answer, luckily on the 6th attempt I spoke to someone, Joseph (American).
I managed to cancel the order before it was shipped so I wont be charged the £2.49.
Joseph advised the reason everyone states its a scam is that they dont read the terms and conditions, which I didnt, which will automatically put you on automatic billing if you do not cancel by day 14 of the trial. The trial period is from the day you order, not the day you receive.
I confirmed to Joseph that I had problems trying to contact them by phone therefore could not trust that I would speak to someone or someone respond to an email within the 14 days.
All I can say people is that if you are calling (0800 0122 544), keep trying you may elucky enough to get through to someone.
This is for anyone who received an order from support@proactiondiet.com
Good luck!
:)
