Ooh TinyPablo - how did they find that out?
My docs seem to have written off my problems as a standard prolactin issue caused by a tumour...they're a bit dismissive to be honest & just give me pills. Are you on medication?xx
They did a CT scan which showed no pituitary tumour so then decided to retest my prolactin using a more specialised testing method which is relatively new I think. To be honest, I know more about this than my GP (thanks to a brilliant Endocrinologist) so if your not already seeing one, it might be worth asking to be referred to an Endocrinologist and they will probably investigate the possibility of you having Macroprolactin. My GP offered me bromocriptine (Parlodel) to lower my prolactin but the Endocrinologist said this has no effect on Macroprolactin and, in any case, I did not require medication as I was having no obvious or negative symptoms.
HTH, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Do you have any symptoms? Vision problems, production of breast milk etc?0 -
Thank you for posting! How did they find out your prolactin molecules are larger than normal? I take it from gymfiend's email that it's more usual for it to be the standard 'tumor issue', rather than big molecules!
Oh, and welcome to the thread!

Endocrinologist said it's quite common but often goes undiagnosed as most GP's have never heard of Macroprolactin. If symptoms are present, they will normally do a scan of the pituitary gland to look for tumours. I was scanned without symptoms but think this was because I was very young (late teens) when they discovered my 'high' prolactin levels.0 -
Hi ladies.
I was wondering.....if you ov later than usual in your cycle would you expect AF to be later too?
For example.....if you usually ov on day 14, and your LP is usually 14 days you would have AF on day 28.
But if you ov at say day 20 would you expect AF on day 28 as usual (having a short LP) or would you expect a longer cycle (allowing 14 days for LP) with AF coming on day 34?
Thanks:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi Everyone,Sorry i havn't posted since i introduced myself,been distracted recently
i was wondering the same thing about late ovulation..., im having one of them months too
Also during Ovulation i noticed slight spotting which i believe to be ovulation bleeding(which i have never had before) but also yesterday i had a very light bleed (only when i wiped did i notice, sorry if TMI) twice with mild period like cramps during about 3 hourshavn't had anything since, im due AF tomorrow or day after and have no pms symptoms which is extremly unusual for me...I don't know what to think, i've never experienced this before with my cycle....is it normal??

Hi Shelly - the standard medical view seems to be that although the date you ovulate can vary due to stress, excessive exercise etc, the luteal phase stays the same length so if you ovulate later than usual then AF will appear later too. That would make AF due on day 34 like you say.0 -

I've got my fingers crossed for you that this is an implantation bleed! xx0 -
Your luteal phase should always stay the same within a day or 2, but the follicular phase can be different each cycle. Not everyone's is 14 days though, mine was rarely that long. A LP of 12 days and over is fine, often if it's 11 or under they like to give you clomid or progesterone to make sure the bean has long enough to implant. I took B6 for mine and it gave me an extra 1-2 days
Good luck Jem! Implantation bleed is very common to read about, but not so common in real life, but i know some women rely on it like a HPT lol. 30% of pregnancies have some bleeding over the length of the whole pregnancy. If there's been no spotting since then it's definitely a good sign. Got my fingers crossed for you0 -
Hi ladies.
Thanks for the replies. I kind of thought that your LP would stay roughly the same making a longer than usual cycle.
My monitor showed me peaks on days 23-24 this cycle and on checking back over my records for the last few months my LP is 14 days.
I'm now on day 32 so a few more days to wait for AF yet.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Thanks for that - will have to raise it with my Dr...
I've not had the obvious symptom of breast milk, only no period and my vision going a little dodgy, just started wearing glasses [but this might well be a natural progression rather than a tumour related problem]. I had my CT scan a couple of weeks ago, waiting on the results now so if it show's nothing I'm going to bring this up. I take cabergoline at the moment & it's brought my period back at long last so hopefully it'll mean I start ovulating.
My newest problem is that I am trying to temp chart & they're all over the place, Monday 34.2, Tuesday 36.4 and today 35.7 - what's that all about?! I'm on CD 8 today..and confused.Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -

Do you have any more news? Have you had your scan yet, or more bloods done?0
