Sarah, thanks for this information. I am thinking of getting tested for this once I have the all clear from my surgery. I had severe pre-eclampsia and had emergency csection at 34 weeks. I have since had 2 miscarriages and 3 failed !VFFs. This seems to be a distinct possibility for me too. I once had investigations for lupus, which is also an immune.clotting prob, which was negative which if they considered that, this may be likely. Plus have you seen thrombophilia (or something like that) - seems familiar also

Any way - good luck to you lilo

Lilo - yes, factor v leiden is a form of thrombophilia.Sorery to hear you migth have probs too - definitely ask them to check you for all forms of thrombolhilia. THere are apparently lots of variants.

Right, the bonking starts tonight! Trying the Deanna plan again as it work so well for us the last two times.

    Hi Ladies,

Wanted to pop in and say great news Lilo :) Fingers are firmly crossed for you!

Felt a bit of an imposter so have been completely absent for a little while [as I had no period so couldn't really be TTC?!]...very exciting news, I have just had a period for the first time in almost a year! Woo hoo! Now hoping I can start to predict some sort of cycle and really get on with the TTC malarky.

Maybe a silly Q...but I've booked a holiday at the end of May, almost 17 flying hours...do you think it's safe to do that when pregnant? Of course I am indulging in some wishful thinking but hey...I can dream :)

    Have a great weekend all,

    xx

Yes gymfiend, as far as I'm aware it's only recommended you don't fly after a certain number of months - 7 or so?

Good luck with getting a predictable cycle!
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o
  • Great News Lilo! Now I'm starting my weekend with a smile! :j

And Gymfiend too - Glad that AF has finally decided to pay you a visit! You should be OK to fly - I have been told that it is fine until the last trimester - just make sure that you srink plenty of water, and prob. a good idea to get some of those flight stocking things if doing a longhaul. Where are you off to?

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    Sorry Nichart about your news...
Lilo - good news for you! All the best!

Well, I couldn't have the Day 21 blood test done this week, so will have to wait for next cycle. Fingers crossed, I will manage to do both day 3 and day 21 next month. OH has to go to GP tonight to collect the form and the cup for the semen analysis.

I wasn't too well this week - was working away, and one of the nights the food must have been not too good, as next day I was scared I'll have to keep running out of the meeting to throw up, hopefully it didn't come to that. Couldn't eat anything the whole day! And today I am having rather strong cramps on the right side (I would say ovary area, but what do I know?). I am 9DPO, so still have a while to go till AF shows up.

Going to Hong Kong :) Taking my better half, my mum & sister as a present to them all for putting up with my horrendous self for the last year!! Have been so awful while I've had no AF and no idea why, constantly up and down thinking I was pregnant, but never was. So yes, taking them away & can't wait [not very MSE unfortunately!!]

Thanks for the advice - think I'm probably being silly anyway...chances of being preg by then are slim but thought I'd ask :) & thanks for the good luck jiblets :) Think I am getting ahead of myself - first cycle in a year and I am convinced things are going to start running smoothly now...I can but hope!

It's so weird to have a period - am trying to temp track on fertility friend but typically came down with flu Tuesday in keeping with the first day of AF, so temps are sky high...any ideas on how to go about guessing ov? I think just ignore the first few days til my temp comes down & work on changes from then?

    xx

Different airlines have different rules about when they will let you fly, and the cut off point is earlier for long haul flights and for multiple births, than for singletons and short haul. In general most airlines will let you fly up to around 28 weeks, and after that you may either need a doctor's note or not be allowed to fly at all.

Also most travel insurance policies only cover you up to about 24 weeks, and you might have problems if you needed to cancel because of the stage of pregnancy you were at.

If you know who you're flying with, I'd suggest you ask them direct what their policy is. Or google for the info for that airline as its reasonably easy to find.

Hello Ladies, just catching up on everyones news.

Nichart,I'm so sorry for your news, like others have said,at least you now know that you can get pregnant (although its probably of little comfort at the moment).I seem to be hearing about a lot of Early M/Cs and I really don't know if things were perhaps a little easier "in the good old days" when you couldn't do a pregnancy test until you were 2 weeks late !!! Take care & make sure that you look after yourself for the next few weeks.

Sarahs999 I know this probably isn't any consolation to you,but my friend was also diagnosed with factor V Leiden - when her 2 boys were 12 & 14, I don't know much about the condition, she may have just been lucky,,and was only diagnosed because her sister found out that she had it.

Lilo,Please forgive my ignorance, but whats a tracelectomy ? Anyway it sounds like good news !!!!

FE,Hows you ? We had our F/u Appointment At the F/C,the Dr said that the IVF failer was down to "bad luck" and that we should really give it another go !! so we're hoping to start with March's AF.

Hope that everyone else is OK & BDing like crazy

A trachelectomy is when they remove most but not all of your cervix when you have cancer of the cervix.
In the world of medicine its a fairly new procedure.....the first one being done about 14/15 years ago.
Its recommended (where the cancer is caught soon enough not to have spread into the womb) over a hysterectomy for women who are TTC.
They leave behind a small amount of healthy cervix (in my case 1/3) which is sewn closed, but open enough to allow for AF flow.
Unfortunately having a trac means you have to have a c-section when the time comes, you aren't allowed to go into labour naturally at all as allowing the remaining cervix to dilate would not only be painful but tear it up as it pops the stitches......ouch!
