I can't remember when I last posted, or where I'd got to... but here goes.

Not posted for a while as I've been pretty down. Sorry to read of Nichart's loss... I've been there. Hugs.

Well, Christmas Eve I was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden, which is basically a blood-clotting problem and is probably behind my recent miscarriages. Upsettingly they reccomend only aspirin - which is what I was taking anyway, so I feel very down and hopeless. I had a meeting with my consultant last week and she has agreed to give me CLexane, an anti-clotting medicine which is used for some variants of my condition, as soon as I get pg. SO I am a bit more hopeful now. However, she says there's no proof that it will help. My next step, if this doesn't work, is to join a research trial at St Mary's in London, as my consultant admits that she will be stumped if I lose a baby again, and that there might be something else that they haven't yet discovered, which is causing my losses.

    Sigh.

How did I manage to have one child already? Interestingly, the Factor V Leiden is a factor in eearly onset pre-eclampsia, which is what I had with my son.

Hugs to all who need it today.

I'm really sorry to hear your news Nichart. I've been through this as well in the past, and know how hard it can be.

    Take care of yourself.

  • Sorry i'm late on the post... Nichart i'm sorry it didn't work out. Chemical pregnancy is really common though, that's why they advise us to wait until AF is actually late before testing (although much easier said than done i know). I was told as many as 70% of fertilsed eggs don't implant properly like that. I had one abit later at 5 weeks in 06. Take it as a good sign that your body is in 'baby mode' right now! Hopefully you will get your next BFP quickly too.

Well, the right answer is to ask your doctor about the clomiphene.

However, if it were me, and this is personal mindset, I would be tempted to start again as though the first day of your bleeding was CD1. I would work on the basis that if I had waited until after my period was late before I tested, as is usually recommended, I wouldn't even have known I was pg, and that lots of women must have ended up in this situation without being aware of it, so if it was that much of a problem you'd be advised to test every month whether or not AF shows up, which you aren't.

This is just the way I reason things out when in this kind of situation btw, and not intended to sound harsh or cold. I think a lot of people with fertility issues find that they are most fertile just after they have been pregnant, so I would go for it quickly if you are emotionally ready, and I'll keep fx that you get your BFP again very quickly.

Sarah, thanks for this information. I am thinking of getting tested for this once I have the all clear from my surgery. I had severe pre-eclampsia and had emergency csection at 34 weeks. I have since had 2 miscarriages and 3 failed !VFFs. This seems to be a distinct possibility for me too. I once had investigations for lupus, which is also an immune.clotting prob, which was negative which if they considered that, this may be likely. Plus have you seen thrombophilia (or something like that) - seems familiar also

Any way - good luck to you lilo

  • A quick update for you all, looks like I have got my tracelectomy - so long as an exploratory op on 20th Feb goes well and the lymph biopsy is clear - and it is booked for 9th March.

So, so long as I get the all clear in September, I will be back on the TTC in October YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I shall be trying to bank at least one embryo in the freezer before the op, to give me a better chance after!!!
