    Hi girls (and Meltrix)

I am still here and still trying. Been off here for a few days but had a quick read to catch up with everyone. Not really got nowt else to post at the minute so I won't witter on for ages. But I will just say that I am glad people are starting to get balls rolling with fertility consultants, etc!

Baby dust and glue to all!

    Rosie xx
  • I ended up waiting 5 months for having a Hycosy (similar to a HCG I think), due to my hospital only carrying them out once a fortnight for 3 hours! Anyway I looked into carrying one out privately, which would have been somewhere around the £100 in local bupa hospital. They needed info from my GP to do it, but my GP had mislaid my notes...:p
Anyway the following month I managed to get the NHS one done. The consultant was very apologetic when he realised it had taken so long - my previous consultant had left, and no one had bothered too much about me!

Anyway, this is a longwinded way of saying if there are long waits for some procedures on the NHS, it may be worth investigating how much they would be privately.

  • Well, after a very strange month with the IVF not going ahead, I have now started my period on CD21!!!!! So obviously the follicle did pop about day 7 as expected, so there you go.

So back on the IVF trail - scan booked for Monday to see what is developing - and fingers crossed we are all on target this time. I feel so much more confident this time - I think whatever problem I had has worked its way out - and I am READY for a good go this time - Tons of Baby dust and glue required, but I am really positive this time, and that is half the battle won!!

    Good luck to all Lilo

I'm now on day 5 of the after-2-week-wait and had another BFN this morning. I'm assuming that we're not pregnant now. So where's my period? If I'm not pg then I'd rather just get on to the next cycle. This is frustrating to say the least.
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

Hopefully, all being well,I should only be a couple of months behind you in the IVF/ICSI trail - If you don't mind ( and it won't bore the others too much) It would be great if you could carry on posting about your experiences,as it'll give me an idea on what to expect.

Is it only me,or does this TTC lark take over your life after a bit ? However hard I try, Its all I seem to think about at the moment !!!!

Another quick question.lilo (don't feel you have to answer if I'm getting too personal) Did you ( or anybody else) tell others that you were having IVF ?. At the mo we are undecided on whether or not to tell family and colleagues that we about to embark on treatment - on one hand it would be nice to have support, but on the other, will it feel like too much pressure on us ? was just interested in yours or others experiences of this.

Thanks and lots of mega sticky Baby dust to us all
  • I told my team at work we were having it - we worked in the same office and I thought it wasn't fair to go through the hormone treatment and not warn them! Also, we had the final scan (to see when the eggs were to be collected) on the Saturday, and told there and then it would be Monday. I knew it would be that week so I'd told work that I could be off with no notice.I'd also booked annual leave to run on for a fortnight after the 3 days I was taking as sick leave - the egg collection, the day afterwards, and the embryo transfer on day 3.

Admittedly I work for a local authority, and generally they're good about things like this.

We'd also told close family and friends.

  • Hi, Notslass - unfortunately I dont have much family left, parents etc died 2 years ago, which is prob one of the reasons I have had so much probs conceiving - as stress is a real problem. Whats left of my family I am not particularly close to. DH has 4 kids, and they know we are going through it but not in any detail, its just not something that we have wanted to really discuss with them (they are all grown up) - and the eldest has had 2 of his own during our quest!!! The only girl knows prob the most, and she is really supportive - she has our son sometimes when we go to London. The only people who I have really told in any detail is the other mums at school - surprisingly most of them seem to have had problems conceiving themselves, and are really interested without being in my face, if you know what I mean. They have also been really great with having DS for tea, and dropping him at school when I have had early starts. Both DH and I are really private people, and have really only told people on a need to know basis and depending on whether they really needed to know - DHs boss knows, but not his colleagues for example.

As for the IVF itself, I will happily keep you up to speed with what is going on - but bear in mind that I am doing natural IVF on a natural cycle, which is prob very different to what you will do - I have done the drugs, but have a slightly high FSH levels, so only stimulate one egg, and as I produce this naturally, there is no point to the drugs. So instead, I will be scanned to see the progress of the follicles, and then their release will be controlled with drugs and the egg colln etc will be the same. It is a little more fraught than the drugs, because it is more likely to fail at the earlier stages, which is what happened last month.

Sorry this turned into war and peace!!!! hope it helped -//lilo

Thanks Lilo and Js - I guess thank we'll just tell others on a "need to know" basis - think that MIL would be on the phone every 2 Min's (no exaggeration) waiting "for news" !!

I actually work in the same hospital as the fertility clinic (no staff discount, unfortunately. lol),so although it'll be convenient for appointments,It looks as if I'll have to wear dark glasses and a big hat,so that nobody spots me !!!
