Oooh - how exciting - let's hope you're right!!
Nicki - I asked this question of my reflexologist who said 'any time that's convenient' - i.e. a quiet week as there's no alcohol/treats etc and lots of cooking and food preparation. I was more concerned about potentially harming a baby if I detoxed during 2ww tbh but she didn't seem concerned about this in the slightest. She didn't mention a fertility boost but she did say it would help to rid my body of toxins and any sluggishness and get all the right nutrients and stuff circulating, so I guess that in itself might serve to provide a 'boost'.0 -
I just checked online for info re detoxing and fertility boosts and stumbled across this interesting page:

In the name of trying everything 'once' I'd definitely say it's worth a try!0 -
Hi Ladies (& Meltrix)
Had our appointment at the fertility clinic today, the Consultant confirmed that ICSI is the way to go.
The outcome for live births is about 20%(for our age/circumstances)so all things considered, the odds are quite good.
The only thing that did make us gulp,(apart from the cost)is that the chance of twins is 20-40 %!!!!!
Also going to look into the detox that Lilo mentioned, anything that boosts our chances has got to be worth a shot.
Anyway, the next step is to have a scan on CD1 which is to see how I'll respond to the drugs and should also give an indication of my egg reserve, and hopefully treatment can start round about Xmas.
Baby Dust to us all & remember that Bding should be fun too:rotfl:0 -
My appointment today was also quite reassuring in that the scan showed that I was just about to ovulate, and that the endometrium was as it should be. OH has been tested in the past and his sperm count is normal, and there is apparently no reason to believe that will have changed. But I do have a fibroid which might be reducing my chances, and also some signs of mild PCOS (which was the problem we had previously). The plan is to see what happens this month (as ovulation will be in the next few days), and if BFN then to do some bloods at the start of the next cycle to see whether any hormonal issues, then make a plan from there. Even though nothing has really changed I do feel better for having got the ball rolling on the medical front.0

Completely agree nikkinoo, I recently invested in a copy of Zita West's book Guide to getting pregnant and as the article says, she too recommends this type approach to diet so its certainly something I am keen to try too.
After such a long time without any progress TTC, this month, the third since I started monitoring my temps and using the ovulation monitor (with no success), I cut down on my alcohol and ensured I had three meals a day and lo and behold I ovulated this month! No idea if this is as a result of these activities, but its a definite positive step forward. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi all, still in the wait between being late and actually coming on, so that's just waiting, but I have had some good news. My letter for my fertility refferal arrived today, so I officially have an "initial consultation" in February. Could someone let me know what to expect please? What might they ask/do? What sort of time frame will I be looking at for the next test and onto whatever they'll do for me? Trying to get a vague idea in my head of what I'm going to face.
I do feel officially excited though. Woo! Oh, and scared they're gonna tell me something I won't like....Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

Hi Jiblets - good news on the referral. We were really pleased when we got ours as we felt that after a year of getting nowhere we were at last going to see some progress and that help was at hand. Our initial consultation basically followed up on the results of the tests that the GP had sent us for i.e. sperm one for me and a scan and blood test for DW. She then talked through our results and what that meant for our chances (in our case nothing bad :j). We talked through what we were doing to help, i.e. diet etc. The consultation then focussed on DWs scan and the likelihood of PCOS. The consultant was great and explained exactly what was going on with DWs ovaries and the effects PCOS has on them. We then discussed the next steps which is an HSG for DW to check her tubes are clear, followed by a day 21 blood test to check ovulation again - i guess that's a pretty standard no matter what the problem might be. Finally we talked about what would help and in our case that's a course of Clomid.
In terms of timeframe, we had our first consultation at the begining of Sept which happened to be at the start of DWs cycle so they said we would have to wait till the next one before they could do a HSG, with Clomid starting the cycle after that. As DWs cycle turned into a 50 day one she's only going for her HSG next week so we'll then have to wait till the next cycle before Clomid. So i guess that's a long winded way of saying it depends what your body is doing and where the problem lies! However, we'd be seen as soon as the various results were back so it should be a reasonably quick process.
Hope that helps. Others may of course have different experiences to pass on!0 -
Hi Jiblets, good news on your referral, I don't know whether it was just me but I felt a weight had been lifted once I got my referral letter as it seemed something was finally happening. It took fom March to September to get my referral appointment and then things happened really quickly, I think it depends where you live for waiting times etc. I had My 1st Appointment with consultant on 4th Sept where both mine and OH test results where discussed and took a history (quite detailed) from both of us. Then before I knew it I was sent upstairs to have a pre-op assessment for lap and dye, I was really surprised by this as it seemed so quick. I had Lap and dye on 29th Sept and have follow up appointment with consuktant on 6th Nov. So in my experience once you get the referral it seems to move along fast!.
Hope it all goes well for you x
Just to add, my consultant is repeating all the tests already done by my GP!!:j0 -
Thanks both, I'm starting to get a picture in my head now. It's comforting to know that the long wait to get the referral shouldn't be repeated at every step of the process...Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0
