I think I shall be spending my time flitting from here to the other TTC thread.
OH & I haven't been using protection since June time when i was diagnosed with PCOS. The treatment and support was very lacking at the time because we werent actively TTC but after much soul searching, crying and talking OH and I are now on the TTC wagon with vengence.
I think I will ask my GP to give me another referral and this time be a bit more conscious and savvy about my choices. Last time I picked the closest consultant with easiest parking but wasnt really suitable. I then later found a wonderful sounding & recommended pcos specialist working from a hospital equal distance away but car park gets heaving! I felt quite silly basing my choice on the parking but hey, you learn the hard way right? right?
So, got OH on multi vits with zinc and I am taking pregnacare. Tried BBT and the hands on for checking for signs of OV but BBT wasnt any good as the other tablets I take mess up my bodys temp. regulation! When I thought I could feel OV, the OPK said I hadnt so who knows. Going to give it a week or so to regain my composure and then head back to the GP and see what they can do because as it is, i take Provera once a month to bring on a bleed which I have to say is ace because im not gettign 3/4 months of build up and agony in one go.
Well thats my story.
Cross posted to the other thread too. xx0 -
Welcome ancasta :hello: You're in good company here!
jiblets, any sign of AF yet? Or is she still proving elusive this month?
Can anyone tell me how you get AF if not ovulating? Because thats what I thought the period was - i.e. your "unused (not for want of trying!)" egg? Will get my blood test results hopefully by Wednesday to see if ov'd this month but as I've said before I really don't think I am so just waiting for next step!
Hope everyone is well!

I don't understand it either because on the one hand I have been told when I have missed an AF its probably because I haven't ov'd that month but Iv'e also been told that if a womans cycle is regularly 34 (IIRC) days or longer it means she might not be oving at all. So I'm as confused as you:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
AFAIK you may have had the changes in estrogen and progesterone throughout your cycle which enabled the endometrium to build up to receive and embryo, but were not sufficient to trigger the release of an egg, or you may not have an LH surge which is what causes the egg to be released from the follicle. Therefore the body still needs to shed the thickened endometrium to enable a new cycle to begin.
I'm fairly sure its not as simple as saying that if you have a period you must have ovulated, otherwise there would be no need for doctors to do a day 21 blood test for women with regular/semi regular cycles.0 -

Still no AF here. And I feel completely symptomless (for pg or AF). I think I'll make an appointment with the docs for the end of the week, and if AF arrives I can cancel it, and if I'm still waiting I'll ask doc for some advice. I'm doing my best not to htink about it to be honest. I feel surprisingly calm. Probably because I can't believe I could be pg, so I'm just annoyed waiting for AF. And I'm too busy to focus on it at the moment...Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
Hi all - well the scan went well, I have at least one if not two nice little follicles, both doing what they should be doing (why has my font gone mad??) so, so far so good!!! Next scan on Friday - Day 8 which hopefully will still be good, and we will start talking dates = I am slightly regretting agreeing to a halloween party next Wednesday for 19 children - I may have a general anaesthetic that morning!!!!!?!!!
Oh well - I am game for a laugh, anyway
Good luck to all LiloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
Ooh lilo, that sounds promising. You just made me chuckle out loud though, party for 19 children just hours after a GA?! Game for a laugh, or crazy? lol!:D
jiblets, good on you for staying calm and being sensible. Best to have a docs appointment booked for if you need it than trying to get one at the last minute. Hopefully you won't need it though!
shelly - glad its not just me thats confused!
Nicki, thanks for that, I have been wondering that for a while and now I get it:T0 -
hope this is the right place for introductions, but here goes nothing anyway...
me & the wife have been trying for coming up 5 years now; we avoided the GP for the first 18 months but went when minor desperation kicked in. we were referred to the hospital and they did some tests; HID was diagnosed with a pretty minor complaint and had a small op as a day case, so we crossed our fingers & kept on trying alas to no avail (so far)...
I'm on my way to 40 and the wife is mid-30s, but it still took a bit of jumping up & down before we eventually got put on the list for IVF. it's a 2 year wait so we should be half way through the list but who knows? I'm a man so it doesn't effect me in the same way but it's awful to see my wife suffering, which she does every month like many of you I'm sure.
it's geting to the stage where I think we may be best off paying for treatment purely for our own sanity, not the best time to do it financially but we do feel pretty hopeless to be honest. we haven't told people that we're trying, I can do without regular inquisitions on the workings of our reproductive organs, and I know a lot of our friends with kids look at us enviously as we take off on an impromptu break or decided to have a night out without having to arrange a childminder, but I'd rather have their problems than ours.
anyway, glad to get all that off my chest, apologies for moaning. good luck everyone...0 -
Welcome newbies and congrats to all BFP's :j:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
