Hi all, well OH has finally been put on drugs to treat his depression. I'm pleased obviously that he is finally getting some help, but am fearful this puts a stop to our trying until he comes off them - talk about timing! But I keep telling myself the important thing is to get him better, everything else will just have to wait.

Toniq - well, at least you have a bit of news which is better than none. Bl**dy consultants can be such a pain but hopefully you'll get a date not too far off soon, x

Angelavdavis - have you tried the accupunture route before? I've read about it before, so would be prepared to give anything a go! Apparently our new neighbour is a reflexologist - might also be useful... will have to read up!

So hope you are all keeping well and positive and I'll lurk if OK until I have better news to report, xx

    Hi Guys...

Hope you don't mind me popping my head in for some advice.

I've just been referred to a fertility clinic by my doctor and wondered if you could shed any light on what I could expect from the appointment? It's not until Sept but I like to be prepared

Background is that I went to the doc's a couple of weeks ago as I've been off the pill since last summer and my periods since have been, sporadic to say the least (have only had 3 so far this year :o) and while OH & I haven't been expressly trying for a baby, we haven't been not trying either, and seeing as something is clearly not quite right with me thought it best to go and see someone.

Anywho, doc was great - I was expecting to be sent away seeing as I'm only 28, and haven't been trying for a year, haven't been doing any temps etc, but he sent me straight off for a blood test, then following those results (which I think just said that my hormones were kind of ok but I wasn't ovulating) I've been referred to the fertility clinic.

So, I finally get to my point! When I booked the appointment last night, they said that both partners should go - it's the first time my OH has been mentioned in any of this, though of course we knew that he would have to get looked at as well at some point...

What can we expect? Will they have wanted me to record anything about temps and things? ATM, I've got my records of when I've had my periods and that's about it... would just like to be prepared if they want to start examining me there and then.

Sorry, turned into a bit of a mammoth post - I think at the mo I'm still in a bit of denial about it all, because I hadn't expected to be referred so quickly. I kind of figured I'd get some advice and be told to go away and practice some more ;) I'm not complaining about having a proactive doctor, I just feel like it's all going along quite quickly without me really understanding any of it...

    Thanks for reading

    Bx

    Welcome Kizmet!

More (((HUGS))) Toniq - hang in there Hun!

Hiya Beebuzz. When I first went to the fertility clinic, we had been trying for quite a while and so I had done the charting/temping and used OPK's for a few months. I was using a website (think it was fertility friend) to chart and took printouts of my graphs and notes of everything with me - copies for the consultant to keep. She was very impressed with my organisation!!!!! Actually she said that my having done this was very helpful and meant she could rule some thing out/in straight away and move on faster, so I could recommend to do whatever you can in the meantime - you don't have to, but it might help.
They will prob get your OH to have a sperm analysis done pretty quickly, which is a good reason for him going to the appt, but also they had a long checklist of previous medical history for both of us to go through. We'd gone along expecting it to be an issue with me, as DH had a SA done a couple of years previously, but it turned out that we both have issues (his had developed in the meantime) so you never know!
You may have an internal scan done straight away (I did, but I know some ladies had to go back for theirs). This is not painful and nothing to worry about!
Welcome to the thread and good luck!
