Oh AnnieM how exciting. Well, as the only one NOT TTC at the moment, I had better do all the leg crossing for us all (dont want to stop any other future BFPS) so they are now wrapped round and round, and I will do a very strange walk until you put us out of our misery tomorrow!!!

The patter of 4 paws sounds good - we have the patter of 12 here - it will definately keep your mind occupied and bear in mind, they can be WORSE than children!!!

For your choice of clinic - have a look online and see if you can find any info about each clinic and the services they offer, and you may be able to find info re the consultants as well. If it is a straight choice, I would choose the one I felt most comfortable with, and offered the treatments and support that I was looking for. The results of each clinic should also be listed on the HFEA site, which should tell you the live babies per treatment results.

    Hope

Also look into the success rates of different clinics, as they vary enormously. Even if you are lucky enough to get IVF on the NHS, you are unlikely to get unlimited attempts, so you'll want to maximise your chances by going to the clinic with the best success rates, even if that means that you have to wait a little longer to be seen.

Oh heck! I'd better have good news tomorrow then, seeing as you're doing a contortionist routine on my behalf! :rotfl:

    Thanks everyone!

Well, I am in North West. The closest would be either Preston or Chorley. I have a choice of Preston, Chorley, 2 in Liverpool and Manchester. I think Liverpool would be the longest travel.

I know that St Mary's in Manchester and Liverpool Women's Hospital go all the way to IVF if needed. So, if I start doing the initial tests/appointments with any of the other hospitals, I would probably need to be referred again to Manchester/Liverpool for that "little more help". Manchester has much better success rates, but they have longer waiting times as well...

We still haven't called Bupa to see if they would offer initial consultations, so may do that tomorrow. I don't think they will, but maybe worth a try.

Hey Lilo great news am so pleased for you :D

Nicky thanks for the info and congrats on your BFP/12 wk scan.

Ginvtz a cat how fab, I'd would love one too but alas my dog thinks otherwise hehe. Good luck choosing a location for your consultation, for me it was only a choice for initial appt as everyone from the area is refered to the same place for NHS IVF treatment. IMO though the NHS has been fab so far very friendly and helpful no stress and not made to feel bad, very understanding but not patronising. Once our tests were over and we finally decided to go for IVF the whole process from referal to first consultation was just a little over 4 months, then from then to start of first cycle 10 weeks. I guess we are lucky though as we seem to be in a minority from what I hear, but I wanted to say its not all bad. Hang in there its all worth it.

Annie!!!!! Congratulations!!!!! So glad for you!!!!

I wish I got BFP this month, so could spare all that hospital choosing etc. I think I will just get to the closest hospital for the first tests/consultations and then if we have to go to IVF, we will have to travel to Manchester or Liverpool.

Did your OH came with you to the first appointment? I mean after you got all the tests done at GP and got the first referral to hospital. I am not sure what to expect, but I suppose it would be more of a general finding out what is going on and what they can do, not any tests, so it might be good for him to be there.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am feeling rather hit by all this...
