Both my hubby & I have had all the tests, my hubby is fine but it seems that I sometimes dont ovulate every month. I was on clomid for 6 cycles last year & this does seem to have helped as the ovulation test strips seem to be coming up positive most months.
We can't afford to have IVF etc as my hubby is unable to work due to MS
Is there anyone else out there of my age trying for a baby?
Hi,Natalie,
I've just turned 41(shhhh,don't tell) and had my first (failed) IVF attempt just before Christmas. We are trying to get together the funds for attempt 2,although we're still trying the old fashioned way as well !!!
We had our IVF review appointment a couple of Weeks ago & the Doc said it was "just bad luck" that we didn't get a BFP,as I apparently responded well to the treatment and the embies got to Blastocyst Transfer.
Anyway we've still got a couple of questions we would like answering before we book in for another cycle,I rang the clinic yesterday to ask if I could email with our questions and they said We could do that or book a telephone appointment,so I emailed them yesterday, hopefully they'll get back to us before long.
Although IVF is portrayed as a modern day miracle, the success rate for the "over 40's" is only 10% which is a massive drop compared to anybody under that age,so I sometimes think that I'm holding on to false hope,But there are plenty of people who conceive well into their 40's,so I'm trying to stay positive.
Its good news that you're ovulating and that theres nothing wrong with OH little swimmers.
Welcome to the thread

We have a few who are gearing up for IVF at the moment, and some in various stages of referral.
Feel free to let it all out, rant and rave, and make us laugh!! The thing we do best is to listen and support each other.
So Welcome with open arms!!

Just wanted to add to lilo's welcome.

My brother & his wife had two cycles of IVF, they had little or no chance of conceiving naturally, after the second cycle of IVF they were lucky enough to conceive twins who are now nearly two. Don't give up hope, I'm trying not to.
I wish that the NHS would realise that just because couples are over 40 they still need funding for IVF.0 -

Well, CD 16 here. Fertility friend estimates that I OVed on CD13, although I think that will be changed to CD14 after I entered few more temperatures. We managed to be bd CD11-14, but we were completely out of steam last night. I am so tired today, my eyes are literally closing in front of computer. I just need a pillow!!!!
Will get my blood test done on Monday before I go away, so then we can arrange to see the doctor for the first week of March. I have just been told that we have a customer coming from abroad for me to train that week, but I will need to get an appointment one evening to see the doctor, as I am away again the following week!!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Welcome to the thread Natalie and Mrs Ryan!
Well, my hormones are officially b******d - AF arrived a day early, and the doctor confirmed my progesterone result was low. What with the elevated FSH and Prolactin, and DH having a low count, I am beginning to suspect we are a lost cause as far as having kids goes
Just have to wait for our appointment date for the fertility clinic now. I'm wondering if I should rethink my 'decision' not to go for invasive treatment if necessary. I'm starting to fee like I really HAVE to have a baby. Oh dear...
Hope everyone is going to have a nice, relaxing weekend (or a weekend filled with great bd-ing!)

Morning lovelies,
Welcome to all the newbies
AnnieM I'm sure you're not a lost cause as far as having kids go! Have they done anything to medicate the prolactin/fsh problem? [sorry if you've said & I missed it, haven't been online half as much as usual lately to read!]
Ginvzt your life sounds mega busy!! Don't forget to take time out to relax, sounds like you're exhausted.
Shelley - hope you have a lovely active weekend
Well today I've been woken up by stomach cramps and a sick feeling, again. Better half is suggesting it was my cooking last night!! I've felt like this for a few days though, with relentless stomach cramps and bloated to the point of having to wear different jeans to usual & even they're tight!
I'm on CD 26, last cycle, the first one since starting meds to reduce prolactin level, was 35 days just about, so I wonder if that's how long this one will be? When I was taking temps, I got to day 16 this cycle then gave up because it was driving me mad, but it suggested I o'd on CD 12, is that realistic? If so, I should have AF about now right? I bought some cheap tests on eBay the other day just waiting for them to arrive...
Think my symptoms suggest either AF or the elusive BFP, probably AF..! Gah, so frustrating...I don't even want to test in a way, would rather wait til CD35 & hope and pray for no AF then test...as although I'm sure that cycle was only so long because it was waiting for meds to work, at least then it's the longest possible. I need advice
Oh oh oh and on other news...my better half suggested we could go & buy an engagement ring this weekend [nothing like a bit of romance hey!!!!]& then set a date soon, as I'm so panicky about being pregnant before being married! Woo hoo, now just gotta get him to break the news to his family!
Hope everyone is ok & has a lovely weekend, xxxxBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
Congrats on the engagement gymfiend!
