JoJo77- I've had no side effects with clomid/clomiphene. I've been on it since before summer starting with one tablet, then 2, then 3. They didn't seem to work for me but weren't bad. If they don't work then I was put on metformin, now they have got side effects. They make you sick so lose weight & lose appetite. And you have to get used to when to take them and what with. In my case milk does not agree with tablets.
Bunnie1982- I have PCOS and am not overweight or have greasy skin either. At least they know what is causing the problems in TTC now and can start to rectify it.
I saw the head poncho on Monday who said that they are going to get the big guns out now. DH has to give a sample and blood test and my bloods were taken, then in about a month he is going to start me on hormone injections. Not sure how I feel about injecting myself but if needs must I suppose I'll have to get on with it. Here's hoping my body is shocked into working before then. Fingers crossed0 -
pa2539 - The doctor who did my scan just said Polycystic Ovaries to me, he didn't say Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome - he mentioned that was something slightly different which made me confused. I think the best thing for me to do is wait until my consultant appointment so they can tie all the results in together for something a little more accurate, also they will be able to answer my never ending list of questions. To be honest I wish he hadn't said anything because it has made me worried.
Hormone injections don't sound very nice, I know how you feel about having to inject yourself, personally I don't think I could do it because of how terrible I am with needles.0 -
Hiya Bunnie1982,
When I had my internal scan, they mentioned polycystic ovary to me [just in the left one I think?] - I panicked about it and overreacted, til I saw the Doctor who told me that 25% of women actually have the appearance of polycystic ovaries and it wasn't as frightening as I'd convinced myself it was.
Jiblets - things sound positive, glad that there's something happening & you're moving forward
Ginvzt - good call on the house I think, if a different one means you can have a cat, it'll be worth it 10 times over to be elsewhere. Not sure if I could live without my little cats
No real news from me...I'm on CD24...don't feel like my period is coming, have still got the odd low cramp but nothing to suggest the witch is on her way. Might well be because she's not due for ages...I've no idea!! Had loads of cm for the last few days though after having nothing at all so far this month, so have bd'd every day of that in the hope that it's sign of a late ov? So frustrating having no idea of cycle length - wish I hadn't given up on the temping so early now!
Hope you're all ok today? It's Thursday - virtually Friday & weekend timeWoo hoo!

Good morning all!
gymfiend - thanks about the house. We wanted a cat (and a dog, but that will have to wait) for so long! We said we will get when we buy the house, we bought the house March 07 and then we said we will do it after wedding, then OH moved up north and we were going to sell the house, so had to wait again. Hoped we will find a house to buy up north soon, but no decided to keep renting. We came very close to getting a hosue with pets allowed in October, but landlord's circumstances changed and he decided not to let it out (we already passed the credit checks and paid the first lot of fees and part depostit - got refunded those in full a week later!!!!). I can't wait to get this house - we hope to start moving in mid-march. Probably will have to wait till after Easter to get the cat as we are going away for a Easter weekend and it might be not enough time for the cat to settle in before then... But I don't know if I can wait!!!!!!!!
Sorry, out of topic. Going back to it - got my temp jump this morning, so feeling rather positive. Managed to bd every day this week so far, and I had a positive opk on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.
About day 21 blood tests. Doctor wrote on the form that I canget them done on day 20 or 21, as my periods can get down to 26 days on occasion. The problem is - I can only do it on day 19 (for sure) , maybe on day 22 (but can't be sure until the day). What would you do? Would you get them done on day 19? He did say it would be ok if I do the test one day either side, if it falls over the weekend...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
I am new to this thread, am 43 next month, desperate for another baby & have been actively trying on & off for the past 4 years. Both my hubby & I have had all the tests, my hubby is fine but it seems that I sometimes dont ovulate every month. I was on clomid for 6 cycles last year & this does seem to have helped as the ovulation test strips seem to be coming up positive most months.
We can't afford to have IVF etc as my hubby is unable to work due to MS
Is there anyone else out there of my age trying for a baby?0 -
Hi Natalie
Just wanted to say welcome to the thread. There are various ages on here, with several ttc-ers being around 40 - I'm sure they'll be along soon.
Good luck,

Hi Natalie, I am also over 40 and trying for my first baby.
We have been told officially this week that IVF (or ICSI to be exact) will be our only choice with OH's problems. Am thinking long and hard about it at the moment as I am not really keen. I also have a high FSH reading of 24 but have been trying every solution known to man (and woman) to get it down and plan to have another test this month.
Tempted to look at adoption but know that we have to finish the fertility treatment if we go down this route.
ginvzt - I would go for day 19 test. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi Everyone :hello:
Not much to report - just popped in to keep up to date with you all!
Natalie & Angela, I'll be 39 this year and still TTC #1. Been going to a support group at my Fertility Clinic, and I'd say over half of the women there are late thirties or early forties, so we are not alone by any means!
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi everyone,
hope you dont mind me joining in?
Bit of history for you. 28 years old, TTC seriously since age of 21. First miscarriage was at age of 19, second at 21, third and fourth at 23, and fifth last year at age of 27. Diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome at 22 after prolonged medical negligence, was told then there was nothing that could be done. Metformin discontinued due to severe side-effects 2007, tests ongoing at the minute, about to be referred for fertility treatment.
Desperate for a baby now... thankfully I have a great support network and work are fantastic - they're all as nervous and excited as me about it, bless them. I havent had a period now in two months and my hair is falling out in great big clumps at the minute, but Im trying to stay positive!!!!!!!!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Welcome to the thread Mrs Ryan - we come in all shapes and sizes here, and all have many and varied stories, if you read back over the thread, I think you will catch up with most of us.
We have a few who are gearing up for IVF at the moment, and some in various stages of referral.
Feel free to let it all out, rant and rave, and make us laugh!! The thing we do best is to listen and support each other.
So Welcome with open arms!!
