  • AF has finally arrived! How wierd to actually be HAPPY to see her for once! - LOL! Feeling very cr*p, but at least things seem to be sorting themselves out.

Saw the consultant yesterday, and the good news is that she will let us try again. My BMI has jumped up again - now it is 34.5 - so she wants me to 'keep an eye on it' - but after our 'discussions' on the subject previously she doesn't make too much of an issue of it!!!!!!
We have to wait until the next cycle to start the next treatment, and then only if AF turns up after the usual 28-31 days after this visit, but at least we now have a plan, and that makes me feel so much better!
We disucssed it and have decided to try for Blastocysts this time. Given our previous attempts, she thinks we are likely candidates. it is always a risk that the embies won't make it to that stage, but if they do then the chances of a successful implantation are better, and as we don't know what caused the M/C then it could be the answer. All a guessing game really......

On the job issue - I had a job which I LOVED, but it was very stressful and involved a fair bit of travelling. When I was made redundant (the company was taken over and we all had to go) I deliberately took a lower-stress (& sadly lower-paid!) job near my home, with hardly any travel or overtime necessary. I was also hoping that it would be the sort of thing I could return to part-time after I had a baby......
Yes, it has been great from the point of being able to do the fertility treatment more easily, go to appointments when I need to, and have time off without really worrying about it, but TBH I am BORED OUT OF MY MIND now after 3+ years here, but feel I am stuck now!

Have a good day everyone! (((HUGS))) FE.

    Hello ladies :)

    Happy Friday!

Lots of catching up since I missed yesterday...on the job front:
I was jobless for a while from Nov 07 - Feb 08, temped til May 08 & am now in a job that I absolutely love & would loathe to leave, despite it being incredibly stressful and shouldering a lot of responsibility alone. Thankfully I have a fair amount of freedom to work from home/take time off at the drop of a hat. I did wonder if this caused some of the TTC problems as prolactin problems are related to stress...

FE: Things sound good :) Always nice to have a plan in place I think so things are straight in your mind & you can count things down.

I went to the hospital yesterday & am pleased that my prolactin level has dropped to within a normal range :D Unfortunately the tumour on my pituitary gland is larger than expected, so off to a different department for more scans & tests, keeping fingers crossed & hoping that the polycystic ovary doesn't cause too much gyp. Also, given up on temping for this month, was beginning to p*ss me off because it didn't seem to follow any real direction, there was a dip then a rise then after that just random temps each day...

On a random note, the hospital was horrendous - the waiting room was fit to burst with patients and there were so many loud people in there having vulgar conversations [one girl was shouting and swearing at the receptionist!!], really horrified me!

Hope everyone is ok today xxx

    Hi Gymfriend,

Glad to hear your prolactin is normal again. Fingers crossed I get the same result for mine in a couple of weeks. On the note of the tumour, mine is 7mm and my endo seemed extremely keen for me to have surgery to remove it. I was and still am absoloutely set against that at the moment and he reluctantly agreed to refer my case to the neurosurgeons at Addenbrookes in Cambridge where I would have to have the surgery. Fortunately they agreed no need at the moment and just to try the meds and be monitored regularly. Hope you get ok results fro next scans.

    Hiya Becs,

Will keep my fingers crossed for you :) They didn't give me exact dimensions of mine, just said it was on the large side...I too have made the decision that even if surgery is offered I don't want it, not for now anyway...

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed that the Dr's agree with me for now! Have heard loads of stories of people still able to conceive just using the meds so here's hoping & praying for both of us :)

    xxx

God I'm starting to panic now. My first clinic appointment is in 4 days and reality is kicking in. I'm very pleased to be going - it feels like something is happening at last. I'm a bit excited like christmas that they might tell us something positive, but I'm also cr***ing myself that they're going to reveal some big huge problem that we didn't know existed.

I've also now realised that they may or may not be performing a vaginal scan. I thought that they definately were - but my husband was dubious. So then I went to find the letter telling me that I was and it has disappeared off the face of the earth. I rang them up to ask and was told that some people do and some don't so I'm no better off. Really I'm just starting to spin out because there are so many unknowns. And I'm on my week off now, so I've not got enough to distract me. The house will be clean though...

Jiblets, I was terrieifed about our first appontment and the scans I had done. Part of me wanted them to find out something was wrong so they could fix it and then we could have a baby. Apart from having to sit in the same waiting room as all the pregnant couples going for their 12 week scans it was all ok, and everyone was really nice. Try to think of any questions you might have and write them done now so if you're really flustered you won't forget them. Good luck.

They didn't find anything wrong with me so I was lucky in a way. What frightens me most now is our meeting on Monday with the specialist as I think we may now have to make a decision about going for IVF or ICSI and I'm not sure I feel ready.

Are all the clinics the same places where pregnant women go for their scans? I'm glad you mentioned that jojo, I'll need to brace myself for that.

It must depend on the hospital jiblets. I've been in a few different fertility clinics over the last 15 years (both NHS and private) and I've never been scanned in the same clinic as pregnant mums. They've always had small scanners in the clinic itself, which have been operated by the gynaecologist personally rather than a sonographer.
