sausage pasta - roll the meat into small ish rounds and cook in a little oil til they are brown. Remove from the pan and put a pan of pasta on to cook.
Now cook onions and garlic in the sausage pan til they are soft, add a splash of white wine (or wine vinegar and a bit of sugar) and some mustard/cream/yoghurt then put the sausages back in. Serve with the pasta.
This is based on a nigel slater recipe.0 -
You could do Nigel Slater's mustardy sausage pasta, it's on my meal plan for next week!
I don't have a link to a recipe as I saw him do it on a tv programme and it looked so quick and easy I just noted down the basics and made my own version of it, and it's delicious and so easy to make!
He used proper sausages, but removed the skins first, so sausage meat would be fab to use for this, just break it up into small chunks and brown in some olive oil in a frying pan. Oh nearly forgot, put a pan of pasta onto boil first as this will be ready by the time the pasta is. When the sausage meat is browned add a glass of white wine and simmer 5 mins then add a dollop of dijon mustard and about half a tub of cream and stir it all together. When pasta is cooked, drain it and add to the creamy sausage mix and eat! Yumm!!!
ETA: ooops just noticed the post above is based more or less on the same recipe lol0 -
what about sausage pie,
mix sausagemeat with finely chopped onion then flatten into bottom of a pie dish, open a tin of beans pour over top of sausagemeat, roll out some frozen flakey or puff pastry to cover the top and bake in the oven until nicely browned. the kids will love it!! :wave:0 -
How about Scotch cheesies? I made these today and they went down a storm!:T
You will need
Sausage meat
Breadcrumbs
Cheese
Flour
egg
mustard and/or spices
salt and pepper
Mix a little bit of mustard (to taste) with your meat & any herbs etc you wish to add and season if you like.
cube some cheese, (i use cheddar)
Coat each cube of cheese with the meat mixture, so like meatballs (make sure the cheese is properly encased) then coat in flour, then egg and then breadcrumbs,(make sure they are well pressed down).
Leave in fridge for 30 mins to chill.
Then deep fry at 190 and leave to cool. Then ENJOY!!!!!:jNorthern bird on the loose!

Roll sausage meat into balls, with chopped up onion and dried sage, drizzle with a bit of olive oil, top with plenty of mash. 45 mins in fairly hot oven! sorted! yummy! :j0 -

a) It was reduced, so not originally 19p
b) Not everyone can afford to buy really nice meat. Some of us have to save money, and one must cut one's cloth accordlingly....0
