I think I will make home made sausage rolls as DD doesn't like shop ones, I'll get her to help make them in the morning for packed lunch for school on Monday.

I also like the sound of the meatballs with pasta sauce, and homemade scotch eggs.:D

I think I'll have to go and buy some more sausage meat to do them all:T

makes up a packet of paxo and mixes it with the sausage meat.

packs into the pie crust and cooks for 40 mins.

  • Make a sausage plait.......

Break up sausage meat into a large bowl, chop a couple of onions and add. Add some tomato sauce and then mix it all together.
Meantime boil up some eggs and when cool shell them and cut into quarters.
Roll out puff pastry and shape sausage meat into one large sausage with a dimple in the top, place lengthways ontop of pastry in centre and then add the egg down the centre dimple.
Using a knife cut the pastry and 1 inch intervals down both sides of the sausage and then fold this up into a "plait". Brush with egg and cook in the oven. When cooked cut into slices.

We used to have this frequently with beans and chips (yum!) but now it generally only gets made for buffets. It is a fab twist on the original sausage roll.

Hope I havent made it sound too complicated!
