  • After a bit of web searching, I've found one near to me:

Ellesmere Port & Neston MOT Centre
    Rossfield Road
    Ellesmere Port
    Cheshire
    CH65 3AW

    Tel - 0151 356 6548 or 0151 356 6596

    Standard £40 fee per test.
  • TMS - Traders Motorcycle Services
    Bromborough

    Car MOT £35
  • I've just tried to get an MOT appointment at my local Hazel Grove (Stockport) test centre. A receptionist very tersely told me "This is a council run MOT centre" and that "Taxis are a priority" with no private appointments "for at least a month". I think Stockport is not going to be playing ball on helping its residents get a fair deal!
  • I have also just tried to book an appointment at the Hazel Grove MOT test centre and was told that they are fully booked up with the council for the next 6 weeks! i.e. I can have an appointment for the end of July at the earliest.

    Not very convenient at all!

I've just tried the Stockport/Hazel Grove one again and was told the same thing no appointments and no free time for at least 6 weeks, the lady said she doesn't know why their number is on here because they don't do general MOT's

I've recently found a fab garage - who aren't council run but do offer a brill service.

I originally went to them just over 10 years ago after my car had gone into its franchised dealer and received £100's of work which I was convinced hadn't been done. I explained to them what had gone on and they said that they would check my car to see if the work had been done and if not, they wouldn't charge me for the check and would discuss any work and prices before carrying it out. The work hadn't been done by the franchised dealer  - which lost its franchise soon after - and they have had a happy customer ever since. These guys really do need a pat on the back. :D:D:D:D:D
Spare change tin in force this year!
    NRAM PPI : £6022.56 - WIN! :j
    LLOYDS PPI : £4684.66 - WIN! :j
My Pearl of Wisdom : Don't be scared to say "I can't afford it", or "I'm skint" to anything... If you're lucky, you'll still be able to do what you want, just find a different way -and if you can't, you don't need it anyway! :p

Someone call the Council and see what the score is then. Why take the word of a secretary ???

Am I allowed to say who these people are?, I'm not connected to them apart from being a very happy and contented customer. :D:D:D:D:D

Well I'd like to know who they are.
Mind you I always take any recommendation with a pinch of salt.

I usually use VFM in Sharston. Several times they've avoided doing unnecessary
work without any prompting. Although they don't do welding so if you have a
rust-bucket you may be better off trying someone else.

They are Ash Garage, on Manchester Road in Stockport. I've been to them like I mentioned for years.

They've advised me on my most recent car. I went in, said I had x amount to spend and since he was looking after it, which was the easiest to look after? I had a choice between a ford fiesta, an old shape vauxhall tigra and a ford puma - two out of three cars which could possibly cost a lot to repair if they went wrong.

I was told to go for the fiesta as their parts are easy to get hold of, cheap and the jobs are easy to do - apparently the old shape tigras dont have a lot of room for manoeuvre in the engine bay and a job could therefore take longer and more labour cost.

If you are reading this, you know who you are and I send you a big hug. Thank you for all your help over the years. :T:T:p:p:D:D
