The reason I don't include Citibank is officially it was withdrawn. I know there is still an accessible link, but i was told this was being taken away and i've heard so many reports of people not getting the card and being given something else when applying - i didnt think in good conscience i could include it.
I am checking again with citibank what the status of this card is - and will report back after nmy hols (in about 8 days time)Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I'm not sure about the £15,000 spend per year used in Martin's article. I use credit cards obsessively for all possible spending and still only manage around £10,000 for myself and my wife combined. At total spend of around £10,000, the fact that Amex isn't accepted at quite a high proportion of places bites into the amount earning 2% cashback quite severely, meaning that the average rate achieved is close to 1%.0

I got the Citibank card OK - was sent to me on the 15th of april following the earlier tip. It does state 1% cashback in the T&C's. Perhaps having an account with them already helped.0 -
I have just acquired a new "citi" platinum visa card which i understand gives me 1% on all purchases. I hope that I have not misread the blurb.

I hope this isn't a short-term offer too.0

I have just discovered that my local council (Wirral) will allow you to pay your council tax with a credit card.
Unfortunately it does not take Amex, but will take the Morganstanley 1% cashback mastercard.

So no problems at present. Why does this card no longer figure in Martin's 'best buy' cashback credit card though ??"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
I applied for a Citi card for myself & my wife several weeks ago after reading about on this site and being attracted by the 1% cash back. My Amex Blue works well but is not accepted everywhere so this seemed to make good sense. It took an age for the cards to arrive and when they did the initials on my wife's card were wrong. I phoned their 0870 (expensive?) c.s. number and after loads of menus finally spoke to someone in India. After explaining the situation he advised me that he would report the card lost and issue a new card. A week, or so, went by and a new pin number arrived, the name on the letter was different but still wrong. Phoned India again and was told that the card would arrive with the correct name. A few days later the card came, again with the WRONG name. Another long call to India where I was told that the signature on the back of the card was the important thing and the card would be okay to use WITH THE WRONG christian name! After considering this we have decided to return the card and I have just written a letter to the Citi M.D. questioning their ability manage my card account securely. I'm not using my card again until I am convinced that they know what they are doing. Score to date 2/10.
P.S. my new phone on 3, together with their Indian c.s. dept. is GREAT!0 -
