Opened my marbles account in November 2004 and BT'd the full limit on 4/11. I was supposed to have 6 months at 0%. Called several times in the last month to confirm that as long as the account was at 0.00 on 30/4 there would be no interest charge. Account was at 0.00 on 28/4 but latest bill showed 6.49 interest charge. Rang to complain and was told they will refund 6.49. They did.0

I find all this amazing. We have had a amex card since 1981 and I have never heard of any cashback. I don't know if it's any different in Australia but we have been on gold card probably for the last fifteen years. Did use the platinum for a few years but the annual fees were just too high. Did have some great benefits like free international travel etc but we didn't use them so we went back to Gold. I will read up more about it.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

You are probably talking about the CHARGE cards. We are talking about the CREDIT cards. They are two different beasts."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

I used the CitiCards link from MSE and opened an account. No mention of cashback in the Citi response but a telcall got the response "If you opened your account on the Internet, it will be cashback".
In the first month, I tested with a few transactions with the subsequent statement showing no cashback.
Another telcall gave me "Your account is not cashback" so I asked for the account to be closed.
What a waste of time and CitiCards money.

I too got a Citi Platinum card with no mention of cashback although the website said 1% cashback. After many calls (by me with no returned calls), I spent 45 mins today (cutoff once) trying to get cashback enabled for my card.
After being put on hold 20 times "while I check with someone", in the end I was told that Citi are not offering cashback at the moment. They do not accept that cashback was the offer at the time on the website when the application was entered.
Therefore, I am also cutting up my cards and writing to their MD in disgust. Hopefully, they are loosing money on issuing cards that are cancelled.

Hi Pin,
Thanks for the advice re, the Conran card, sorry it's taken me a while to thank you. I have now binned my Citi card and applied for the Conran card. Hope that it makes a good companion for my Amex Blue.pin wrote:I've had the Amex card (Blue and Platinum credit card) and didn't have a problem getting cashback from them. Had to stop because it was getting hard to find retailers accepting it.
Now have the Conran Card, have just had my first cashback from them (last month), came at 1%, again no problems. Few things about Conran, compared to other cashback cards. Conran is not technically a cashback card, more of a share scheme. However it all boils down to cashback. They promise at least 0.8% cashback, but historically have given 1% cashback (like they did this time round).
Also most other cashback cards will give you your amount at the end of your card anniversery, Conran give it back around April / May time every year.0 -
A bit of bad news on this today.
After getting it confirmed in writing that A&L would let me keep my 0.5% cashback (because I have the premier plus account with them) I found out today that MBNA aren't letting me have it.
They were quite apologetic about it and arranged for me to get money back from February until the end of June (as compensation and to give me time to apply for the 'real' A&L money back card - needs to be done via A&L website).
Don't think I'll bother applying since I've just got the Green Egg and my Amex blue is near the £2k/1% spending barrier...I'd rather use the application for a Virgin card?0 -
Anyone know if Mint gives cashback on purchases abroad? Can't find anything on their website. Although taking my Nationwide card abroad, we want to have my oh's credit card as a stand by.0

hi, i just got refused from A&L premier plus current account because i am not on the electoral lists for at least 5 years and Lloyds doe snot let them access ther customer's credit hisotry. So Am I screwed for their credit card as well?
I just want to have a credit card with cashback so I can get the most out of my lloyds plus current account @ 4% interest. I will repay the balance at the end of each month. Anyone have any recommandations?"Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye
