hinchy wrote:Hi pin,
how much do you rate the conran card i.e. online banking, ease of use, rewards, any complaints? Fancy this card as its straight forward compared to several others but read that Conran's had bad trading year which may be typical of all retailers!
Hi. Conran is run by MBNA. To tell you the truth I have not had any major issues with MBNA, appart from the fact they wouldn't let me have a Virgin card, because I already had an MBNA card (i.e. the Conran card).
MBNA online banking is fine, you can see your transactions, etc. Rewards, well you get cashback. They apparantly guarantee 0.8% cashback, but have always given out 1%.
Its a Visa card, so no real issue in terms of ease of use and acceptability."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
A&L recently decided to stop giving cashback on my card (I assume because I always settle each month). Looking for another with reasonable cashback with no or very few conditions. Has anybody come across Mint Credit Card (Royal Bank of Scotland).?? It appears to offer 0.5% cashback.
Cheers0 -
egroeg, the Citibank Platinum Visa card is 1% cashback.

Or visit their homepage, http://www.citibank.co.uk/uk/, mouseover Personal Banking and click Citi Platinum Visa Card.0 -

If you have an A&L account you should be able to get this restored (I did after a few emails).0 -
ChrisMTB wrote:Hi All,
Hope this is the right section for this question. I recently set up a Morgan Stanley cashback card (probably not the best offer around but I'm still a newbie at this) anyhow it occured to me that if I could pay my mortgage payements and some other service bills on my carrd I could accrue a lot more cash back. Is paying for things like this on a credit card viewed as a purchase or cash advance?
I wouldn't imagine your mortgage will let you pay by credit card - they normally only accept standing order / direct debit payments. You can probably pay some bills by credit card - I pay my council tax by credit card, some electricity and gas suppliers also let you. If any recognised company or service lets you make a payment via a website or over the phone by credit card, you are OK it's just like buying something in a shop. Don't ever be fooled into using credit card cheques - they are like cash and the interest rate on your credit card will be sky high!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
I tried applying for the citi card, but it would not accept my bank details - saying the sort code or account number were invalid. They certianly are not - has anyone else had this problem?0

I'm still getting 1% cash back from this card - are others?

Confusion reigns re Citi Card
Just got this email from their customer services department....
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately, the 1% Platinum card offer is no longer available either
online or by application pack.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.:(
Those who have one, please can you post whether or not you get your cashback.....
Cheers
Add in a Nationwide card to escape that 2.75% load on transactions abroad only, and I think that's about as well as I can do for now. Unless, of course, any of you know different.... :cool:0 -

Yes. This happened to me several times. In the end I rang the British call centre (you get them in office hours, otherwise go to Bombay, I think....) - and the guy there said when you get to this screen (I think it is called Financial Information One, but could be wrong) just leave ALL the bank details blank - sort code, account number, the lot - and then the page will go through to the next one. He said they'd had this problem a lot and he was advising all callers to just leave that bank detail screen blank.
Hope this helps. :beer:0 -
Yes that helps thanks - it went through now and I was accepted. I wonder why Martin doesn't mention this card in his best cashback credit card article.0
