Hi,
I called Sky today - long wait - via Indian help desk check lister.......asked to cancel as it was too expensive (£36pm mostly just for sports)- put through to a guy in Scotland - offered 3 months at £18 for the second time or £27 per month for a year signing a new contract - took that option - seems reasonable - still too expensive though,

I only want the discovery channel. Nothing else. I don't even want the option of watching anything else so I don't end up watching rubbish.
For this reason myself, my father, my grandparents and many other people have stayed away from Sky.
Is there anyway to get just the channel you want?
For those with broadband there is this:
http://www.discoverybroadband.co.uk/broadband/broadband.jsp?site=uk&template=info&info_type=whatyoupay
But what else is there available?Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0 -

jago25_98, I don't know about sky, if you could ask for a certain channel - I doubt it, you'll probably only have option of family package as I have which is £21.00 a month. The only way you'll find out is to phone them I expect.
However, with freeview TOPUP, discovery is included and costs £7.99 a month.0 -
 I have just rung Sky wanting to transfer to a new address, she informed me that for that priviledge it would cost me £40, when I said I would rather cancel, she said because I was still in my 12 month contract I couldn't ring to cancel, I will have to write to them...........what's a girl to do? It's gonna cost me shedloads to move as it is, without this added expense, I really hate that firm!!!!!!! what's happened to all the special offers that everyone's been getting??????0

I haven't taken the plunge to phone sky and cancel yet, but I am thinking of doing so. As I now have IDTV which is working brilliantly, and with the sky package I have for £21.00 a month I can't see that it's worth the money.
The only thing is, I do like sky - especially as my dvd recorder is hooked up to it for recording - I know I shall be able to view free to view from my sky box, but can someone enlighten me please? I have been reading today on different forums regarding cancelling sky and as I understand it you can only use the sky interactive and get extra freesat channels (more channels that freeview) if you get the freesat card for £20.00.
If this is the case, I would rather make a one payment of £20.00 for a sky freesat card to be able to use sky interactive and extra free to view channels. Can anyone in the know advise? Please?0 -
Just had the call from Sky and have been offered 6 months half price on any package with 1 months notice to cancel (there was no way that I was going to sign a 12 month contract).
I nearly snapped his hand off - but then chilled out a bit and told him call back tomorrow as I want to look at whats the best price/channel package for me

I thought you didn't need a freesat card if you cancel sky and just keep your old card in the box??? Maybe i'm wrong, but i cancelled my sky thinking i would be freesat for free?
