Rang up disconnections yesterday and got Three months at half price after threatening to cancel.Used the free phone number! Thanks a lot you guys. Would have really cancelled anyway, cos I was finding the fully package toooooooooo expensive.
Friend has just got the sky plus box for £65.00 as she stated that she was an existing customer and had been for over eleven years and felt aggrieved that she was expected to pay over £200 when new customers were getting it for £89.00 and four months half price. She is really chuffed! (She called today around 3pm)Regards

Given Martin's warning, thought I'd give it a go, Phoned up and got my present package reduced from £36 to £27.00 with reduction in the channels and no other tie in other than losing the discount if i change it in the period of 12 months, given that I have no reasonable signal from another source a good result I think.0

gerri1963 wrote:I took your advice and wrote to the M D of Marketing and eventally got a month free subs £43 and three months half price. It was a bit of an effort as I had no response after a week and rang "customer services" who could only tell me I was offered one month free and as I had complained would I like to end my account!!!! I then today spoke to the scottish lady who actually knows what she is doing and she is now offering me the now famous three months half price. Still a saving of over £100 over three months so not bad for just skimming these sites at lunchtime!!!
Getting rather fed up with being on hold for ages at a time [4 attempts and still not managed to even get through to the Indian Call Centre!]
I can't seem to find an address to write to. Can anyone oblige?0 -

HI We're about to leave NTL for SKY as we want SKY+, we'd really like to avoid having to pay the £89 - any reccomendations? Thanks.0

Hi,
Can anyone point me to the NTL thread that mentions the number for retentions?
Thx0 -
oh yea, i forgot to mention
i wrote sky a complaints letter, when my sky + was messign about. apparently they dont have a complaints telephone number, as loads of people called with stupid complaints, so they made it a postal address, becuase they know hardly anybody will bother to write.
nobody ever writes, so they take these complaints very seriously, in the end the nice lady gave me all the money back i paid for the sky + box (after some negotiating!!!!!)
as ive always said, dont sound angry, sound upset!!0 -

I emailed Sky this evening on behalf of my dad (an existing Sky subscriber), and thought I'd done well for a while there. Managed to get him a Sky+ box and installation for £99 (still need to add £10 a month subscription for Sky+ functionality).
After reading the above though, I'm now thinking maybe I should've tried for a lower price (on reflection, the rep who called us was rather quick to offer the discount). Oh well! I never threatened to cancel, maybe I should also have tried that.
Basic gist of my email (I'm not the best at thinking on my feet, so I prefer to use letters and emails to get my point across where possible) was my suprise at the magnitude of the price difference between the offers for new and existing customers, and enquired as to whether there were any offers for long-term loyal customers. We received a call within the hour.0
