I also got sky + for £65. the first night i rang they offered it for £99 but i said i had to think about it. When i rang back last night they offered if for £65. I was happy to pay that but am now thinking that other people could haggle over getting sky+ box which stores more hours of recording!! might be worth a try!
If anyone does succesfully haggle over this, let us know as i can cancel deal within 7 days i think:dance:                 :dance:I am finally understanding what money can do for me!0 -
Telewest and the Disney Channel
Telewest have just cut off access to the Disney Channel, which you used to pay via a seperate subscription, and have bundled it into their "Supreme TV" package. As I was only on "Starter TV", to upgrade to "Supreme TV" would cost me an extra £6.00 per month. (Note that those already on "Essential TV" which is the intermediate package, save the same on the Disney subscription that they have to pay to upgrade to "Supreme TV" - so are unaffected.)
When I phoned the initial operator could only offer me a one month free trial to "Cinemagic" which is the new subscription Disney Film channel. I have been given free trials for a month before but you have to phone up to cancel or you automatically default to paying. He gave me the "Customer Services" phone number when I said I would cancel my Telewest at the end of next month. When I got through the woman said she could not help so I asked her to cancel again; she said you have to talk to "Customer Services" to do that, she was "Customer Care." So it looks as if you have to be persistent!
When I was finally transferred, I asked for the 1st 3-months free for the upgrade to "Supreme" and my broadband, phone, and Essential TV package for £35.00 a month both of which are available to new customers on their web site. He said he would only give me one or the other but no Telewest customer gets both (which is true from the web site). I pointed out that with the best of the two I would still be £1.00 a month worse off for the same thing and I would disconnect as I found Telewest's approach (cut off Disney Channel and effectively demand £6.00 a month extra to get it back - totally unacceptable). At this he agreed to knock £2.00 a month off the on-line offer. So I am actually slightly better off a month now than I was before and have access to alot of extra channels. But this only lasts a year, after that I revert to the normal tariff. From the telewest perspective, they probably hope we will get hooked on all the extra channels.
I have described all the "hoops" I had to jump through so others might see what you are up against. the trick seems to be to (1) threaten to cut everything off - they say only "Customer Services" can do this who are the people empowered to cut you a deal (2) I was going to get cut off at the end of next month - sounds like you mean business but still gives you time to change your mind by cancelling the cut off (3) know what they are offering new customers, you should at least be able to match that.

i wrote sky a complaints letter, when my sky + was messign about. apparently they dont have a complaints telephone number, as loads of people called with stupid complaints, so they made it a postal address, becuase they know hardly anybody will bother to write.
are we allowed to reprint addresses in posts and if could you post it here please0 -

Could anyone tell me if they'd got 3 months half price when they are only paying the £15 2 package deal a month? I have had sky for one year now, but only just. Just afraid they'd laugh at me........0

Don't know if i've put this in the right place but if not feel free to place it in the relevant subject area.
Got my sky plus with six months half price discount on world package, checked my bill and see i'm paying eight pounds a month for an extra box. Is this correct as i'm on a multiroom package and the only new box i have is the sky plus. Couldn't see anywhere about having to pay extra for a box, might be sounding thick but i thought 89 pounds was for fitting of a sky plus box, and as i subscribe to the maximium package i am not applicable for any further charges.
Also anyone found a new freephone number for sky yet.
Advice appreciated please0 -
I just phoned sky to cancel my £21.00 a month package - unfortunately could not use 0800 number.
I said I wanted to cancel because I now have a freeview TV and didn't see any point in paying £21.00 a month for what I was getting.
I was put through to a lady which asked me whether I was interested in choosing 2 package for £15.00 month. I said I really didn't think I would miss many channels and if I wanted topup - I have a CAM slot at back of tv - it would only cost me £7.99 a month. She pointed out that many topup channels only broadcast at certain times of the day - I told her I was fully aware of that.
She asked if I would be interested in 3 months at half price, she would send me details of packages in the meantime. I did take up the offer - my next payment is due on 4/4/06 and as from today I have been put on 3 months half price, but have been credited, so for next month I shall be paying £5.42.
As you need to give 30 day notice to cancel, I shall phone them again on 20/5/06 and cancel - unless I am made another offer I can't refuse and change my mind!
At least I have saved a bit and have been given some time to think of what to do.0
