My virgin contract is coming up for renewal, after two initial enquiries I got no real incentive for renewing. I cancelled on a monday and was then called on the wednesday and was offered V+ hd, XL TV, 10mb BB and free evening weekend calls for just under £30 a month, needless to say I accepted.
Recently?
Many thanks

i am currently with sky and i am gonna call them as i just aint happy.
at present i have 4 mixes, no sports or movies. i am fairly happy with the channels i have but my real bug bear is my internet, they said when i took it out that there was no availability on their network and i had to pay them £17 per month for a measly 6.5mb BB service (that never runs over 1.5mb), i got that reduced to £5 for first 12 months but now i am paying full whack again. i have tried several times but they point blank refuse to budge on my internet price, although i did get my tv at 50% discount for six months.
i am gonna call them tomorrow as i would now like a second box in another room, gonna see what they can offer, dont want to pay for installation. already looked at theirs, bt's and virgins websites and i am tempted to switch it all to virgin if i cant get a good deal from sky, (although i am annoyed i cant get V+ withouth the HD, as i just dont need HD channels) but again i grudge paying for installation or 'HD activation' fee of £49 per box.
called sky and told them i was receiving such poor internet speeds, they say there is nothing they can do about the speed as they dont offer their own network in my area. the best they could offer me was a £4.50 discount for six months, pfft to that. they even told me that the only way to get faster broadband was to go to virgin. they put a note on their system while i go look at virgins prices, i am gonna phone back and cancel in a day or two, then i will wangle a deal from virgin, failing that i will just resort to using my box and card for freesat from sky. at least i will still have internet access via my mobile.
I called them again, i told them i was interested in a multi-room subscription but only if the price was right, they refused to budge on the £10 per month or the £60 install charge. i then explained that i had been unhappy with broadband charges for such low speed. again they advised me to go to virgin for my broadband. i told them that i wished to cancel and now i will wait a few days to see if they call with a better offer, i will put up with poor broadband if i can get a decent deal on the multi-room.Starting Debt - £44,667.64 :mad:DAS Started Jun 09 - Debt Free May 2018 :T0 -
Hi
Thanks all for the post that i have read on here as i have had sky for years and still have the old standard boxes,i have full package, multiroom and espn £70 per month so decided to phone to see what i could get !!!!!
Just off phone to Sky sayin i wanted to cancel as price of sub was going up all the time and getting to expensive.i told them was happy with my package but not the box i had,(also slipped in i was looking at v/media hd and bt vision). The guy on the phone was really helpfull and said he would see what he could do for me, so he said i could give me a free hd box and installation at first but told him that still was no good as the price would still be the same,he then said he would look to see if any more offers were available for me....... he came back with:
- FOC Sky+HD box
- FOC installation
- 25% off cost of TV package
- FOC hd sub for 12 months
So took up his offer and saved a bit of money !!!!!!!!!! HAPPY DAYS !!!!!!!!
HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE0 -
Hi
I settled for Freeview as it costs nothing anyway most new tellys have Freeview receivers on board. Use BT Anytime and their line rental which i think is great value. My phone bills are £47 a quarter and i done 169 calls including 0845 (a common no now) and 0870 in that time. Don't be fooled with TV/BB/phone packages some have only 2Gb download a month even w/e calls use the phone during the day and does it cost. Previously a 1minute 14 second call to the vets a mile a way costs 20p (unreal) i am on Plusnet £11.99 a month cause i am in a non busy area it would have been £6 if a was in the busy area 10Gb monthly download was going to go to orange till i read all those negative reviews will be getting Freesat soon one off payment and with that and Freeview I'll have enough channels to kept me happy Will be consider BT BB as there is an accelerator to increase the BB speed which is handy and being a current customer will get the usual discounts hopefully :beer:0 -
Sky are currently offering a free upgrade to ALL movie channels for 2 months - as long as you cancel after a month (giving a months notice) - there will be no charge !!!0

We tried this today and were told we could only have one offer - either a percentage off the tv package or the Sky+ HD box. She wouldn't budge. She did the usual of saying she was going off to speak to her supervisor but then came back and said it was only one offer.
We will give it a few days and try again, perhaps in the evening to get someone else. Hope they don't note enquiries on the computer.0 -
I had a right result!
Emailed them in respect of an offer i see on HOT UK deals about 2 months free movies, they phoned back last night saying i didn’t qualify for that offer but they could offer it for 6 months with 25% off my total bill which took it down £8 for the extra movie package.......HD as well! When i agreed they then tell me there was an error code and i didn’t qualify, however they would phone me back in 15 mins.
They then came back with 50% off total package so i am effectively paying 1/2 price till April next year. All i have to do is make sure i cancel 31 days before the end!
How they get to these offers i haven’t got a clue but it was about time i finally got something back!!0 -
Just off the phone to them there and got NOTHING other than "that's fine we'll cancel that for you"
Nice to see that they value custom highly!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
