Read the article and found very useful but how unfair is the system. We have been with sky for at least 15 years and NEVER had any of offers other people are getting and yes we have gone as far as cancelling.0

I've just rung up after 11 months to give notice and was offered either knock 5 packages off and save a fiver or cancel HD to save £10. No special offers what so ever. My cancellation is now set for a months time and I'll see what happens in the mean time.0

I was offered half price package: TV package, line rental, Sky broadband unlimited for six months yesterday.
I then enquired about Sky+ HD and he offered me a free £60 in house install, which gives you 12 months warranty, (maybe a gimmick) and half price HD again for six months.
I have made a diary entry to downgrade, broadband and cancel some of my mixes on April 3rd giving them 30 days notice before the six months are up...
My Sky+ box is nearly 3 years old and was starting to make a buzzing sound so it couldn't have come at a better time... :j0 -
My sisters been with Sky a year, phoned to cancel and got offered 1/2 price for 6 months. I call on behalf of mum and dada who've been with them over 5 years and get offered half price line rental......wheres the logic?0

I phoned to cancel and said I was going elsewhere. Got offered a sky+HD box plus HD free for six months. I was genuinely going elsewhere but decided to accept their offer. Engineer came within 3 days. Unfortunately have a crackle on my phone line now.0

Freephone and works a treat!0 -
Having read a portion of this humungous thread I decided to call Sky and see if any offers were available. I called the 0800 0512 597 number and followed the prompts to the "if you're considering leaving Sky" option. I've been a Sky customer for more years than I care to remember (ooh think of all that money they've had off me ;-)
I currently pay £67.50 per month (includes line rental, unlimited broadband, unlimited anytime calls plus all TV except movies). I explained my desire to reduce subscription ("times is tough mister and I've gotta watch the pennies"). During the call I discussed my current package with one of their Scottish consultants (he was really polite and well informed). What's more I actually understood every word he said......not some overseas phoney who has no idea what I'm talking about and talks in some dodgy accent) - :T.
I was offered the 6 month half price deal mentioned previously and given sound advice as to whether to come off the unlimited broadband and phone deals. I was never sure whether the £5 option was working for my household or not. It turns out my usage is right on the cusp (hmmmm not sure if that's true) but was informed I could come off both deals. I'll receive an email once I hit 75% of my 2Gb broadband usage limit (smart) and will revert to unlimited if I over-use 2 months in a 6 month period.
All in all my monthly subscription has reduced from £67.50 to £38 for 6 months (a total saving of £177). And all this for a 3 minute phone call - RESULT! :j
Why didn't I do this sooner?

Just rang sky as I'd seen virgin media were doing half price packages for 6 months and free install if I switched back to them.
Very nice lady on the phone immediately offered me half price on the sky world element of my subscription for 6 months saving £25.50 a month saving me £153 and without having to agree to a new 12 months which undercut virgin's offer and didn't place me in a contract so pretty happy for what was a 3 minute call0 -
Sky are very good for me, well, when it comes to deals being quite reasonable and we have a lot of channels for quite a good price I think.
However, the internet stops working whenever it wants to, the hub thing and connection have minds of their own! its not good.0
