Hiya all,

Im lookin for a bit of advice really !!, I currently have my phone line and broadband (m) with virgin and currently my bills are around £40-£50permonth which i think is pretty expensive ? it breaks down as phone line rental £11, caller display £2, broadband £20 the rest is calls as im not on any special calls tarrif, i also have my tv through sky, have a Sky + box plus full package that costs £46 a month and now have added ESPN a further £9pm, so basically im payin a small fortune for entertainment !! Im struggling with finances and wondered how to cut things down a little , is it worth haggling with sky to try add my phone & broadband 2 them and try for a discount or even try for cheaper Sky HD ?? or is it better to try haggle with Virgin as i know they have a similar box to SKy+ now ?? any advice greatly rercieved or anyone with recent deals ??!!

I called them on Monday, cos my 12 months are up end of septmeber. A very polite guy told me, he cant offer me a deal right now, but as a loyalty reward he would credit my account with £40...

Not too shabby, as I still can call them in October to get a new deal.

What is the call profile(time of day, type of call), you may be better of with one of the talk plans. If you have a mobile as well what are you paying for that? it needs to be included in the equation.

How long have you had VM if out of contractyou should be able to get VM to cut a deal on XL(talk unlimited) and the M(10mb) BB. I pay £20 for that, call costs are <5 for calls to mobiles and non geographicals

If struggling with finances do a budget decide what you can afford and spend UPTO that, fancy TV packages should be the first to go when finances are tight.

How much can you afford for it all Phone,mobile,BB,TV. then someone can work out what you can have.

Currently each year you are spending over £1200+mobile costs if you have one.

Sky will have to go you can't afford it at all.

You may be able to get VM to do a deal and give you a STB for their free TV package without an install charge, I got the new V+ box for £25 install(normaly £49) but this is £5pm extra.

So you may be a ble to get the phone XL ,BB(10mb),TV M V+box for around £25-£30 this should reduce the call charges as long as most are to normal number that are included in the package.

Don't forget to use the over ride providerfor calls if you are on the basic telephone package, even on VM it saves me money. It can be found on the telephones guide on this site, also use saynoto0870.com to avoid 0845 and 0870 numbers

If you are struggling with your finances, cancel the lot, get a £10.00 per month broadband and phone package and make do with just 5 channels until your finances are looking better. TV really is not that important.

Got XL TV with Virgin (£31.50pm inc Disney Channel),gave them a ring and they have just gave me a cancellation date,they cant offer anything better as 'I've only got the TV package'.

oh well!!

does anybody know if they will give me some sort of a follow up call to try to persuede me to stay?

I've got myself abit confused and could do with a bit of help please.

I'm already out of my SKY contract and so can switch at any time, same with BT (I needed the line as I have Orange Broadband) and it's very rare I use the home phone and NEVER to ring mobiles.

My Orange Mobile contract runs out in October so I can change from them and change my Broadband package - I had stayed with Orange on Dolphin 35 to enable me to have free broadband but as I really only use my mobile for texting I could get a much lower package.

We have the lowest package from SKY+ at the moment (though I'd prefer to have the Discovery Channels & Home and Leisure) we also have a second box for use upstairs (but could manage with Freeview I guess for that one)

OK, which would be the best deal for me SKY+, Virgin or I'm bamboozled by all the information and have now got brain ache. HELP Please!!!!!!

Does anyone have theTascali package - tv phone and broadband and if so would they recommend it. Cant have Sky and Virgin is very expensive for the full package plus Sky sports Any feedback welcomed. - joyella

OH just phoned up Sky & got 25% off our package for 6 months with £30 call out fee reduced from £65. This will get refunded if our new house has a dual line for Sky + which we won't know until we move in.

Overall, happy as if we hadn't read this thread, we would have just phoned up to have it moved & paid the full wack!
