  • I am looking to upgrade my sky package to sky plus or hd and possibly add multi room. I have been on the same package for a while so confident I could get a better deal but after some advise form what other people have got to know what to push for.

Currently I have the full tv package. Sports, Movies etc.... Max broadband, sky talk line rental plus sky talk max @ £5 per month. All in all I think I pay sky about £72 per month and have been on this rate with a normal sky box for almost 2.5 years.

I think if I call sky to cancel then sky will pull out all the stops as on top of the £72 per month I once had a flat mate who spent £100+ on phone calls .

So, what is out their in terms of new customer offers, retention offers or services from other providers I could use to get sky down ?

I would like to end up with at least 1 sky+ box, possibly 2 or maybe 1 sky + box and 1 HD.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
  • Telephone Line Rental: £11.00
    Talk Unlimited: £7.95
    Loyalty Pack B B / Phone / T V C: £-22.50
    T V Size: X L: £23.00
    Broadband Size: £20.00

So £39.45 for talk unlimited, XL TV and 10MB broadband. Does anyone know what is available via retentions for the V+ box and multi-room? I saw an advert in the paper from VM for a free V+ box (although £49 installation, and you don’t own the box it seems, so a free loan of a box which is alright) and I’d quite like cable piped into my bedroom.

Are you able to watch different channels in different rooms?

    Thanks

I wanted to get a better deal on my Sky+ subscription e.g. free HD, etc.

So I called the Sky number and said I wanted to cancel as I had a better offer.

The India Call Center took my account details - then after a long hold (10 mins) I was transferred to the Scotland Call Center - Cancellations Dept.

The woman asked why I was canceling and I said I had a better offer with Virgin - which is true but I didn't really want to switch.

She then went through checking my details to check all could be canceled.

After a few minutes she said we'd be canceled in a month and would have 1 outstanding payment to make.

NO OFFERS, NO TRYING TO PERSUADE ME TO STAY WITH SKY, NOTHING!

    Anyone else had this happen?

Do Sky attempt to contact you back and see if you will change your mind?

I'd never heard of this happening before

    Any help/advice much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Nigsy

Same happened to me, just called sky said i would like to cancel as I have seen better offers. Checked my details asked me to hold and then said there will be one more charge from my account next month and then my account will be cancelled. I am currently paying £37.50 a month for the skysports, news and documentary channels and have a sky + box. Had hoped to get a cheaper deal. But since they haven't offered anything think I might as well shop around and see what else there is.
  • HI, Ive been with virgin media over 10 years, have xl tv phone 10mb broadband and talk unlimited, I rang the retentions dept couple weeks ago to say going over to sky or could they make me better offer, I was told nothing they could do, I could remove talk ultd but my triple discount would go up so what would be the point. I then emailed the retentions dept twice over last few days and had not reply. I have read on here that v+ boxes are now free to existing customers, does anyone else know, and what should I do next ring them or email again?. Any advice appreciated
  • I just called up Sky to "cancel", as we are going away for a few weeks, and we never use Sky Movies. Our bill is over £50 a month for one box and HD; no sports.

Apparently we have to give a month's notice. The guy didn't offer any special deals like I thought he would.

I'll let you know if any deals to stay connected are forthcoming.

    Hi,

I have tried posting my own thread, but not much success really.

I have rang Sky as a new customer, and have requested:

    -HD+ with Sky Sports 1 and variety pack;
    -Sky Broadband base;
    -Sky Talk Freetime.

They said that because I was taking a sports channel, the box would be free, but because I didn't have a Sky phone line installed, I would have to pay an additional £69 installation charge for this. Can anyone let me know if this is normal, as there is no mention of this possible extra charge anywhere. We currently do not have a BT line..It seems a bit odd because when I had virgin cable installed in my old house, there was no charge for installation...

Virgin don't tend to charge for installations and never charge for call outs when you have problems. Sky try and charge you for everything. I've never had anything needing an installation charge but they try and charge you £60 if you have a problem and they send an engineer out!

Because Virgin own their equipment. With Sky, the customer owns the equipment.

I was really surprised after todays call with sky.

After i got a loyalty bonus of £40 2 weeks ago, i got 25% off my bill for a 6 months contract. Thats everything apart movie for £40 (incl ESPN).

If I spread the £40 bonus over 6 months that nearly works out £35...

    Happy with that! :T
