Called Sky this evening (cancelled my subscription in January) to ask what offers they had. Was told free Sky+ box and installation but no half price offers on packs. Will leave it a week or two and try again.

Hi all. i just wanted to let you know we called Sky last night as have been after sky+ for ages and after speaking to customer services who could do nothing with the £160 charge! we requested to be put through to cancellations. After a little white lie saying we could get a v+ box for cheaper, we got them down to £80 then £45! For everything! it's good to know you can still get the prices down....

has any one taken up the tesco offer?
if you buy any tv from tesco direct you can get a free sky hd box plus installation plus one months free hd subscription. i have bought the tv but not sure if i want sky or not though this does sound like a good deal.

So far most of these posts are relating to getting more from your current deals with Sky/Virgin Media

Can anyone provide some information on the best deals for someone signing up for a NEW subscription with Virgin Media???

I am about to embark on negotiations (haggling) with Virgin Media and want to know what people have received in terms of extra's and better packages with their call centre staff.

Am currently with TalkTalk for phone and broadband and I'm wanting to get phone, broadband and TV services with Virgin Media.

    help!!!!!

Bump... can anyone help with this???

I've tried a few times to get free SKY+.
I would buy it but don't want to pay the installation fee, but unfortunately I was made redudant in the summer.
A week after I recieved a phone call from SKY, although it is all registered in boyfriends name they are very happy to deal with me, so I was ready with my speech. I was offered movies or sports for 6 months at half price. I said I would be interested but can't afford and the thing I really wanted was SKY+. She just said that there were no deals at the moment. I then said that we were actually thinking of cancelling our subscription due to redundancy, but that we didn't really want to so if they could help. She told me she would pass this on to another department but I've never had a call back.
I've since had a call asking our we happy etc. I said yes, but mentioned cost and wanting SKY+ my have to cancel but again nothing.
What can I do? I really want SKY+ but don't want to pay installation and if others get it free, I want it free.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • just called sky, and they offered me £5 for one package for 4 months.
  • A few weeks back I had a problem with my SKY Broadband, the local telephone exchanges all went down and I could not get online for nine hours, I work from home and I rely on my broadband connect for work.

When I called SKY they were aware of the problem but could not give me a time when the problem would be resolved and advised that once the service is up and running, I should write in with regard to compensation for loss of service.

So the follwoing day I wrote to their Customer Services Dept.

A few days later, I received a letter from SKY saying that they had tried to contact me on numerous occassions to discuss this matter. (No they hadnt, as I said I work from home and I would have answered the call)

I called the number on their letter and was passed from pillar to post and eventually spoke to some guy who didnt have a clue what he was on about!!! He said a £5 credit had been applied to the account as a "Goodwill Gesture" I told him I wasnt happy with this and asked for the issue to be escalated, to which I was told I would need to write in again.

So I sent an email to Jeremy Darroch (CEO of BSKYB) who passed it down to one of his monkeys to deal with, who emailed me saying she had been trying to contact me, she went on to say that the £5 credit was more than enough to cover loss of service for Broadband. I called SKY to discuss this and asked them to confirm which telephone number they had for me, I was told tha there was not one on record. (So how have they been trying to contact me again?) I requested a call back from the advisor dealing with my complaint, 5 days later (today) she left a message on my voicemail saying hat she had emailed me. She had ent me an email which basically said she was sorry that I remained unhappy with the level of service and that if I want to cancel service then I should call and place 30 days notice on the account.

So I did, I called cancelled, they offered me £30 goodwill gesture, I have said no and said I will be calling Virgin after this call.

Before all of this had happened, I was quite happy I have been with SKY for 7 years and use all of their products (Phone, Broadband, TV) and I was about to get Multiroom installed. They can go and take a run and jump as far as am concerned.

PS sorry for the long post, I am not a happy bunny:mad:
