Hah, I phoned last night, I was on the £21 a month 6 mix deal, finally decided to phone them but was only offered a 2 mix deal for £15 a month which I accepted.
Most of the other stuff I didn't watch anyway so thats still a saving of £72 a year.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
I have just phoned Sky to cancel, saying that I couldn't afford to keep it on. I explained all the channels we watch are available on freeview anyway except for Discovery. As a result of that call, I have been able to take my package down to 2 mixes (variety and knowledge) they have also reduced the cost of my 2 mix package by 50 % for 6 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!! This means all I will be paying is £7.50
Well pleased0 -
How long does it take for these temporary reduced charges to kick in?0

Hi,
Is there a good time of day to ring to get a better deal by threatening to cancel.
Thanks,
Bill :eek:0 -
I have the full £42 package. I have just phoned Sky to cancel and was offered 3 months at half price, the girl I spoke to said this was a 'first stage offer', does anyone know what this means? I did not accept her offer but said I would call back, do you think there may be a 2nd or even 3rd stage offer?????0

raeble wrote:It is a well known fact that if you phone up threatening to cancel Sky the cancellations department will offer you three months half price or something similar. Never pay for the maintence of the box because you can get them to fix it for free if it stops working and you phone up to cancel because of this. You may have to say you can't afford it or something. You do have to be firm in your intention to cancel, and slip into the conversation descretly what you are willing to accept and know what you are talking about. Of course you might get a miserable blighter who doesn't offer you anything. However every single time I have phoned up to cancel sky, they have offered me three months half price (about 5 times). I now no longer subscribe to sky but they have sent me a letter offering me three months half price if I re-subscribe for three months - trying to get their christmas figures up methinks.0

What number are you using to call sky?

saver_natalie wrote:I take it you can only get good deals with sky if you threaten to leave because your initial 12month subscription period is over? I'm thinking about joining (no freeview in area, and freesat doesn't sound that enticing for the initial cost involved) - would I be able to get any kind of discount after the initial 3months at half-price is over as I'll still be within the 12month contract? (I'm presuming not, just wondered if anyone had before). Plus, if I just go for the basic 2mixes package @ £15 a month, are they likely to reduce the cost if I ring threatening to cancel after the 12months, or will they just consider me dispensible and let me go?
