  • I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right area, so feel free to move, but I have a problem and I was hoping that someone on here might be able to help me. My 18 month old has lost the sky viewing card - cant bl**dy find it anywhere! I'm gonna have to phone sky and ask for a replacement. I just wondered if anyone knew of any tips as to how not being charged a fortune for a replacement card. Thanks
I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you :p

:p would like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing :o

i've been meaning to ring up for ages, probably a year!!

finally got round to it last night and was plesantly surprised how easy it was to get 3 months at half price.

used the freephone number, got the call centre in india, said i wanted to cancel and transferred back to this country!!

said i wanted to cancel again due to the need to reduce my outgoings. offered 3 months at half price......result!!

will have to try and get the 40% off for 2 months when it runs out.

give it a try, it's definitely worth 5 minutes of your time and a free phone call

I gave my son an NASN subscription (added to Sky's Freesat card - for the Basketball) for 1 year - cost approx £132, monthy amount £11.99 to be taken from credit card once per month.

Barely 2 weeks later a letter arrived saying that NASN is now part of a larger package and there will be quote a "minimal increase" in the cost to be taken automatically.

This minimal incrase turns out to be 27% (£10.99 to £14/month).

    - Can they do this?

    Hi all,
I'm a current Sky customer and managed to get my Sky Sports Package (£36 p/m) for half price for 3 mths. Thanks to all the MSEs who's advice i drew upon to get this deal.
I'm now thinking of my next move.
I'm interested in Sky+ and was thinking of maybe leaving Sky in May (when my deal expires) and joining back in August (when the football season starts :T ). Their current Sky+ deal gives you 1/2 price for 3 mths but charges you £89 for the box and you have to sign a 12mth contract.

    1) Do you think I could haggle this deal down and maybe, get the box for free?

    2) Do you reckon at month 9 of my contract, I could get half price for the final 3 mths (maybe pleading financial problems)?

    3) Can anyone suggest a better way of doing things?

Thanks again to all you MSEs out there and please help.

I don't think you'll get the box for free, but you should be able to wangle it for between £49-£69. I'd wait until the end of the season and call cancellations stating the end of the Premiership as a reason and that your sub is not value for money. When you get a further three months half price, then ask for sky+ but again state its not really value for money during the summer, you should get some joy.

As for discount uring your twelve month contract - wouldn't have thought so. You can't threaten them with leaving so why would they?

If you can hang on for sky+, you may well see the price drop completely towards the end of the year when they start pushing Hd instead

In that case, I'd probably be better of going via Quidco and get £50 back or maybe using this as a bargaining tool to get a bit more off. I'm not sure how much the people at Sky actually know about Quidco and the like. What do you reckon?

Couldn't agree more. Just done the same thing. £54 saved in minutes. :rotfl:
Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......
  • I take it you can only get good deals with sky if you threaten to leave because your initial 12month subscription period is over? I'm thinking about joining (no freeview in area, and freesat doesn't sound that enticing for the initial cost involved) - would I be able to get any kind of discount after the initial 3months at half-price is over as I'll still be within the 12month contract? (I'm presuming not, just wondered if anyone had before). Plus, if I just go for the basic 2mixes package @ £15 a month, are they likely to reduce the cost if I ring threatening to cancel after the 12months, or will they just consider me dispensible and let me go?
