I'm sure this is a stupid question and it may have been answered before but...
Suppose I upgrade to a Sky+ box and do not go for multi room but instead put my existing Sky box in another room. Now I've read that you can use this for freeview chanels but what about the wiring from the dish? Do they put in a new cable when they install Sky+?0 -
Scrumshie wrote:DO NOT take out warranty. The cancellations depart have the power to offer you a free of charge service call (which means they fix repair or replace the equipment). It is ONLY the cancellations department, that can do this.
The technical department will want a £65 fee!!eamonn321 wrote:I'm sure this is a stupid question and it may have been answered before but...

1. My reason for calling is to cancel subscription as I must reduce my household bills.
2. Usually they transfer your call to a "retentions department". Let them make you an offer.
3. Tell them you love having Sky but you have agreed with your spouse to cut bills so have considered Freeview as a compromise.
4. Hopefully they will improve on the first offer - if not just ask.
5. Say the offer is good, but you will have to check with spouse.
6. Call back and say you're sorry but you could not agree the figures with your husband/wife. Again, if they don't offer a better deal ask for one politely, as you will "have to cancel unless you get an improved deal" (ie half price for 4 months).
7. You can generally tell when they have gone as far as they can, remember the golden rule... BE NICE!
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, hope it's not too late.
Good Luck.
Thank you,
will try it

I currently have Sky+ and pay £32 per month, which includes some of the Movie channels. I was previously paying around £20 for a basic Sky package but as I would have to pay an extra £10 per month to get Sky+ (ie £30 in total), I figured I might as well have the Movies and Sky+ subscription for £32.
My contract runs out in May and I'd like to cut my costs if possible. I've had an offer from Sky in the past, but wondered if I can get any offers now I'm on Sky+? ie, If I get a half price subscription deal for my package, will that mean that they will start charging the £10 subscription because the package costs will be under £30?
I'm also interested in looking at alternatives. I don't need most of the channels - most of what I watch I could get on normal TV and Freeview. However, I LOVE my Sky+ service - I work long hours and sometimes work late unexpectedly. Having Sky+ means that I have something to watch when I do finally get home, rather than just flicking through late night repeats, and I don't miss my favourites. Is there a viable alternative to the Sky+ system? Do other hard disc recorders work in the same way (ie easy)?

A friend told me today that you can get the full Sky package for 20 Euros a month in Spain. Can anyone confirm this? Is this a case of anticompetitive pricing across Europe? A referral to the OFT perhaps?0

You can't buy the sky pack officially in europe. $ky don't have rights to broadcast UK stuff over threre. You can pick up the signal over in spain though. I highly doubt any of that 20 euros is finding its way into $ky's pocket. It is ending up in the pocket of the person who is breaking $ky's encryption .0

We were 'lucky' enough to upgrade with the 50 quid Sky+ deal that was going at the end of last year. To get this price you had to take the Multiroom. Well - the Sky+ has been fired up since before Christmas....but I've never authenticated the mirror card they sent for the other box. So far, we've not been charged for the Multiroom (extra 10 quid a month) - our sub is unchanged. Do they catch up with you eventually.............?!0

I have just had 6months, (well 5 months) at half price', £18 for the sports package. I phoned to cancel and was offered this each time.At the end of the second 6 months I tried for a third with no luck. They did offer 25% if I comitted for 12 months. I took this as I cant get freeview and have a poor terestrial signal. They don't miss a trick though, you have to give a months notice to cancel, any new deal starts from the day you phone, so I actually lost the last month of my half price deal. Good old Sky!!!0

just phoned sky told them i'm not happy with price and repeat's and was offered 3 months 1/2 price without having to haggle so in 3 months i'll try again :T also phoned aol and had my broadband reduced to £14 a month for life plus 1 month free  :T0

Yes they do!!! I took a special offer for 3 months (the full works for half price) and as usual, my bills went mad! I was charged less for a couple of months then nothing for one month and then, out of the blue, they took £40 a month for two months. When i phoned to complain, they told me i had authorised them on the direct debit so they could take what they were owed. My complaints were ignored and i couldn't cancel as my subscription is not up until april.I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)0
