For those of you thinking of moving to NTL just be prepared for some serious problems,
When they came out to install my NTL box etc, they took the wire from the grid to the house via my next door neighbour house accross the top of her garden.
Then when they tried to put the phone it they could not get the cables through so we were told they would have to send out another team to sort out the cables later that day.
I ended up ringing later on in the afternoon(via mobile) to ask when they would be due and was told that they would have to make an appointment which the earliest was 3 weeks time. I told them i could not wait that long as i have a son with problems and i need to be on the phone just incase they said there was nothing they could do.

I ended up having to ring BT back up who we were with before and having the service put back on.

The installation date was beginning of September by December no-one had been out to sort out cables and i had phones loads of times and given loads of different dates.

Anyway at the end of December we were moving house as ours eventually sold and as we were in Contract we had them install at our new place.
The date they were due they came and installed the tv but no phone or broadband so i had to ring again and ask where it was.
I was given another date for the phone and broadband, which passed by a week and then they arrived but they had to take the cables accross the garden which they did straight accross my lawn which the dug up in a diagonal line to the front door.
The broadband also took another 2 weeks to be put on.
Due to all the problems i had a manager actually come out to see me and the property and stated that we could have two months free service and 6mths 1/2 priced broadband.
My bill has arrived nothing on it about discount so i rang and asked where it was and they had no mention of it but would contact the manager, who now is stating that he never said anything.

So i cancelled by DD and told them they can wait for there money until they have sorted everything out.
So they cut my service and my phone, luckely not my broadband.
They can fight all they want for the money but they are not getting a penny.

Also on another note my dad ordered Sky TV put the engineers who came out said they could not put up the dish due to where it would need to go they would have to lean so far over on the ladder and they cannot due to health and safety so he could not have the service. he actually thought they were joking until they got in there vans (4 van loads of them) and left.

does everyone who got the sky+ deal, all have to have some sort of premium package?, i tried to get this deal, but sky insisted that there would be a £10 fee added just for the privilage of using sky facilities!!!, is this all true?!?! bit confused now:( thanks for any advice in advance :)

I had been on the maximum package for a number of years with them (obviously before I discovered MoneySavingExpert - I'm now a reformed character) maybe that has a bearing on the deal.

Thanks to all the info on this baord, I have managed to get a home move reconnection (£40) and an upgrade to Sky+ (£199) all for 49 quid

On top of that they threw in half price subscription for 3 months too.

Happy to share negotiating tactics if anyone is interested, but pretty much everything you can find posted here.

Would be interested in your negotiating tactics.

I have ordered sky+ got it for £65 install date is 6th march. Is it worth phoning back and complaining regarding the monthly discount too, or even trying to get the box any cheaper, even though i have paid already.

Any tips, or has anyone tried this?

    Hi m8

I got the same deal too (£65 installed) and then yesterday got a leaflet through my door offering Sky+ for £99 but with 4 months half price. (this includes the £42.50 deal too).

So by my maths I'm paying £65 and £42.50 per month whereas a new customer can get it for £99 but only £21.25 per month (first 4 months).

I make that out new customers are £53 better off
    • Me (Year) £65 + £510 (£42.50 x 12) = £575
    • New Customer (Year) £99 + £423 (8 x £42.50 + 4 x £21.25) = 522
My installation is booked for 31st January but I might have to move the date.

I think I might acidentally "mention" this offer and see if I can get some £££ of my rental too.

Maybe it might be worth you doing the same thing a day or two b4 they come out to you.

    Hope it helps you

I phoned to cancel my subscription yesterday and got the full Sky World Package half price for 3 months.
She also told me that they are now doing the Sky+ for £89 all in for existing customers with or without multiroom.
I checked their website and sure enough...

  • I have been with sky for about 5 years and am currently on the 4 entertainment mix @ £18 a month. Has anyone with this package been able to get a discount on their subscription?
