I don't know if you have noticed, but the above offer is on the NTLHome website.

    On their website it states:
Offer open to existing customers only. Family Pack is £9.75 per month for the first 6 months and then £19.50 per month thereafter. Subject to a 12 month minimum term contract. Price assumes payment by Direct Debit.

We have 1MB BB/phone line/family pack and were paying £39 per month (bb at £9.99 for 1 year after phoning a few months ago and matching a new customer offer). Phoned normal customer services and asked for the family pack offer - she said it wasn't available to existing customers. I pointed out what it said on their website as being available for existing customers. She went off and checked - she said it meant customers of phone line but not TV. I said it doesn't say that. Finally, she agreed that it was slightly misleading and applied it to my account. She was very helpful.

I note that, weeks later, it has not been removed or updated, therefore it may be worth phoning if you are more than 12 months on with NTL.

    Thanks Guys,

I rang cancellations after a bit of haggling sky+ came dowm from £260 inc fitting to £99 and finally to £65 incuding fitting :j

needed a bit of pushing but they got there in the end. Helped that the helpful guy needed one more deal to hit his target for the night.

    Top job.

    Thanks

    Ian

    Hi m8

I got the same deal too (£65 installed) and then yesterday got a leaflet through my door offering Sky+ for £99 but with 4 months half price. (this includes the £42.50 deal too).

So by my maths I'm paying £65 and £42.50 per month whereas a new customer can get it for £99 but only £21.25 per month (first 4 months).

I make that out new customers are £53 better off
    • Me (Year) £65 + £510 (£42.50 x 12) = £575
    • New Customer (Year) £99 + £423 (8 x £42.50 + 4 x £21.25) = 522
My installation is booked for 31st January but I might have to move the date.

I think I might acidentally "mention" this offer and see if I can get some £££ of my rental too.

Maybe it might be worth you doing the same thing a day or two b4 they come out to you.

    Hope it helps you

Just called sky....and got offered the option of half-price for 3 months (£21.25) or 25% off for 12 months.

I took the half-price offer with the intention of renegotiating again in 3 months time. I wasn't very happy having to re-commit to sky for another 12 months especially when the girl told me I couldn't cancel or change my package during the 12 month period.

  • I'm sure when I signe dfor the Sports package Sky Sports Extra was part of the packgae. I look now and it is £7.00 a month. Anyone know if it was?

I must be unlucky - all I got out of sky was £30 per month for 3 months - a saving of only £12 off the fullmonthly price of £42. which in total does not amount to 1 ful months subscription! The only other option offered was to deselect some of the channels

I phoned ntl last night to get this and was told that it was not available to me as I already had the family pack and the offer was only available to analouge customers. The first person I spoke to would not budge, so I called back later and pointed out how misleading the site was and that it comes accross like the offers mobile phone companies offer on upgrade and they agreed and applied it to the account. :)

Fingers crossed that it does go on. Nice saving for a few phone calls. Thank you

  • I just received a call from sky, I had emailed yesterday to James Murdoch ( I got his name from digital spy forum ) asking why there were no good deals on sky+ for existing customers, and suprise suprise got a call from customer services tonight, but they didn't offer me anything apart from multi-room, which I don't want at £10 a month extra for 12 months, so back to the drawing board for me, no NTL in this area either )-:
  • I've been with NTL for just over 12 months. I have the Family Pack with Sky Sports and Movies added on and as a new customer NTL waived the phone line fee so I have been paying £41 per month.
I am now paying the phone line charge bringing the cost to approx £56.

I haven't had a phone in the last 12 months and have no intention of having one now, does anyone have any experience of negotiating the phone line fee after 12 months?

I have a £36 pm Sky package and have been a customer for 5 years. Here is my experience today.

Rang Sky on free number. 10 minute wait, Indian call centre. Said that I was not able to justify the £36 payment and would like to cancel. They said that their system was down and I would need to call back (presumably a lie!).

Rang back, another 10 minute wait and back to a different person at the call centre. Firstly got them to say that their system was operating fine (seem very suprised at my question!). Said that I would reluctantly have to cancel due to high monthly payments - he asked me to repeat that I would like to cancel at least twice.

Was then put through to a very friendly Scottish lady. She asked me to confirm that I would like to cancel and I said "Yes" although if i could afford it, I would like to stay.

She then immediately offered 3 months at half-price (£18). I accepted this offer but wonder if i could have got more?

Did you make it clear that you wished to cancel? (no real risk of getting suckered into cancelling - you just have 2nd thoughts at the last minute).
