We have gone freeview instead - now that e4 is free it's brill.

We are paying huge sums of money to ntl each month on their combined tv/phone/broadband package. We only have the tv because of Skysports, but I think we can do better with a freeview box. Is there a way of just having the freeview, and still subscribing to Skysports? We never watch the other channels, except the bbc, itv ones. Can anyone help.Thanks0

ONdigital when they existing did allow you to subscribe to the Sky premium services and just one other "basic" channel, but I don't think any other pay TV service has allowed this.0 -
Thanks ash3g, shame but at least I know.0

Phoned up Sky yesterday and got 1/2 price for 3 months.
Bit of an effort trying to get put through to cancellation though.0 -
Just got Sky+ for £65 instead of £89.
Wouldnt give me a discount as well saying they come in on a weekly basis and nothing was in yet but he did tell me to ring back another day.
Should I wait until I get my Sky+ or do it sooner?

I Have Cancelled Sky And Was Not Offered Any Exciting Deals To Stay With Them. I Said I Would Like Just To Keep Disney Channel But Was Told The Cheapest Package Available Would Be £15.00. Does Anyone Else Know Otherwise???Just about to give up!0

How did you approach them - did you say that you wanted to cancel or did you take the line that you wanted to stay but price was too high?
What price package where you on? Amazed that they have let you go with no offer when they will give new customers 4 months at half price.0 -

i said i wanted to cancel and then they were trying to ask why i wanted to go to freeview and what channels did i watch. i said it was my OH and daughter who watched and i said it was far too expensive. i got no incentive to stay and i certainly no longer could afford to pay £15 any longer.
i said i might have been prepared to pay £5 for the disney channel but they said the cheapest package was £15. nothing was mentioned about any half price deals.
i have had to give 30 days notice.Just about to give up!0 -
I wonder whether they only offer half price deals to people who are on higher packages? I thought their cheapest package was £21 now anyway? Looks like you already had a fairly good deal if you were only paying £15 per month.
Anyone else been offered the half price deal on the cheapest package, or is it just people who subscribe to sports, movies etc?0
