  • I had a faulty Amstrad sky+ digibox in warranty. After various phone calls and playing with the settings from directions over the phone still no good. So asked for a service visit. Have new Thomson box today. Sky bloke said could not understand why they still send out the Amstrad boxes as they know they are faulty. Just insist politely that you need new box if you have one. I had no hassle. It's earsier to be polite when usuing the freephone number!

My husband recently called regards to sky+ and all the offers new customers get in relation to existing customers and he was told it wouldnt matter if we moved house or cancelled our subscription and came back in 12 months time they would still class us as an existing but returning customer and not a new one.

After threatening to leave and buy a free view box and a 25 min phone call, he managed to get sky+ for £65, free installation and no monthy fee, which we thought was a good deal, we just hope we dont have any problems with the box after reading the posts on here.

    Hi Peeps,

After reading various pages in this thread, I have seen people mention free channels from sky?

I am attempting to save my mum some cash as we are paying £36 a year for the privilage of Sky. We are going to cancel it. Will these free channels be avaliable or am I just confused.

    Thanks

I realise I'm going to sound stupid here, but how do I know if I have an Amstrad box? It doesn't seem to have any branding on it - is it in the settings somewhere?

    Anyone know, please?

Look underneath the box, pretty much all electrical stuff will have a panel on the bottom with model names/numbers and various other electrical and trademark info.

Hi, have had half price for 3 months since november, just paid full whack this month so phoned to cancel. They offered me 40% off for 2 months, turned this down flat. They then offered to cut my package down for me to two mixes and pay half price for 6 months. So i took that. Qute pleased really now only paying £7.50

    Cheers

:T :rotfl:  ;) Rang up Sky before, say I was struggling financially etc and they offered me 3 months half price on my package so I am paying £18 a month instead of £36 a month for the Sky Sports package- they say to ring back when that deal expires if I am still struggling with money to come to another agreement (probably 25% off each month for 12 months)!!

  • I rang up Sky tonight, on the freephone number. Changed my bank details etc then asked to be put through to someone who could arrange a home move installation for me.
The guy came on the phone and told me about moving my Sky box and how it would cost me £40. I asked about Sky+ and was told it was £99. I told him I wasnt paying that as my family member got it for £49. He came back two minutes later to inform me he hadnt been told of the latest offer. He said he could get me the box and installation ( WITHOUT multiroom ) for £49. Had to subscribe for twelve months. Decided on the £36 package of mix and match. I did try and blag three months half price. Didnt get anywhere though.

Still happy that I have Sky+ for £49.
  • If you're a footie fan DUMP SKY!

My father was paying £36 pm for a sports package, plus £50 for Prem Plus = £482.

He has invested in a new satellite box (£110), 80cm dish (£30), Monoblock LNB (£22), Art Sports card (£92 pa) and installation (£95). He now gets all premier league games in English shown by Sky, as well as those shown at 3pm on Saturday.

    AND, it is all legit!

If you really want to save cash and are outside your minimum contract terms (e.g. the box is yours to keep if you cancel) what about Free Sat - http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/

120 TV channels, 80 radio stations.

But wait for the best bit...

If you already have a sky box and dish you only pay £20!

    Cheers
