there excuse is they give free calls and internet. which to my knowledge isnt upto standard like virgin, and 70% of times i call they keep pressuring me to take this on when i dont want the service just a cheap subscription, to me they are just sending a signal to my box and im already using the equipment as freeview anyway so its there loss.
i think if im forced with the choice of never getting a discount i would sign up via my mothers name get the quidco. and a standard box and flog it. because i have no sympathy for these guys, who lie through there teeths by now saying they havent any offers at all, when 9 times out of 10 people are reporting offers on the internet, and my cousin getting £100 pound wiped off his bill for defaulting, wheres the logic in this to a paying customer.
Sorry don't understand half your post, don't know if you are a current customer trying to get a reduction or a new customer trying to get a deal.
It all depends on what broadband and phone you want along with the TV, if you want 20Mbit broadband and 24/7 Calls phone package then even with the 'freebie' TV package it will cost a fair amount as it would elsewhere, remember with cable 20Mbit means you will get 20Mbit more or less, not a lot less like ADSL.
The XL TV package is all the channels - minus Sky Sports and Sky Movies - add either the Sky Sports or Movie channels on then it will add a fair amount to the package, sadly VM's hands are tied there as they don't make any money from those channels and would struggle to try and offer them below the cost to them. Though they do offer Setanta included in XL and you do get decent VOD.
Do you need 24/7 calls - are you there during the day?
Do you need 20Mbit broadband? Could not the 10Mbit (4Mbit still in some areas do)?
You can then have XL TV.
So that would be L broadband, L phone and XL TV for £35, change another service to XL too and around £41.
XL TV is a lot more than just Freeview channels. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

There ain't really much you can do if you are still in contract, other than continue the contract or break the contract and pay your way out. Could see if they will let you have the discount phoneline install. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Not sure if this has been covered already but I was offered free Skyplus box as a new customer if i subscribed to sports or movies (which i was going to anyway). This was on Friday.0

I have sky+ with the entertainment pack (£21 per month). I wanted to ditch all the paid for channels as we barely watch them but keep the sky+ recording facility which is £10 per month. (i've yet to see anything that matches sky+ for recording and magic eye). I called and they put me through to cancellation people. I told the guy it was all about cost cutting (credit crunch etc) and he offered me a deal. If I were to choose to keep one set of channels for £16 per month - and in doing so pick up the sky+ recording for free - he would credit £50 to my account. Thats a little over 3 months free with no tie's. He said this was a special offer only open to customers of over 3 years standing. So I tore his hand off and will call back to cancel the remaining set of channels when the credit runs dry.0

i finally got hold of sky about moving home, first they said its was gona cost £50 so i said no way i can do that can you put me through to cancellations so this other guy came on after about a minuite so explained it again to him he said it would have cost £60 but he will get it all moved over for me for free. that will do me for now after i move and settle in a bit i will call back to see if they will give me any other offers on my package.0

Might seem like a silly question but can I just clarify from canonbeck's post, are you saying it is possible to keep Sky+ with NO package at all?
Sky+ is what I'd miss most of all.Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -

There is no charge for the Sky+ recording facility whilst you are a subscriber.
If you don't want to subscribe to any packages and just keep the 200 or so free channels and you want to be able to record them, then a £10/month Sky+ recording fee applies.
It could well be Sky drop this fee too around Christmas when the BBC/ITV 'Freesat' PVRs should hit the market, where there is no fee. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Hi,
Any new Sky customers that need a new Bt line and want Sky remember:
Sky say they will pay a full subsidy of the £125 cost of getting a new BT line installed.
Hi I am a newbie and this is my first thread..
I noticed the above can anyone confirm it..and how do you go about this?
I have just moved to a new flat and am finding the BT charge too much for my budget..Can anyone recommend anything?
