After being with sky for 4 years our first and only sky+ box died. The guy on the technical team (indian call centre) offered us a call out for £65, I refused. He then offered me a £10.75 a month insurance scheme that would include a new box, I refused.
He said he had nothing else to offer, so I told him that we would go to virgin as I already have virgin broadband. He tried to transfer me to cancellations and said they were too busy and I would need to phone back today!
Contract is in husband's name, so if anyone has any ideas before he gets home from work, I would be grateful.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Yuo have to ask for the Sky HD deal, they won't offer it otherwise. It's as simple as that!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
I did this last week and it's coming next monday :j my HD telly came today so i can't wait!!!0 -
After weeks of my other half trying to get an upgrade to Sky+ for less than the £150 for existing customers to no avail, I see tonight an offer on the internet for £75 for Sky+ upgrade for existing customers with other subscriptions of phone, tv etc.....so I phoned up and spoke to a nice foreign lady who now tells me she can do one better and offers me Sky+ for £49 (£60 installation), I asked about multiroom too and got that for £10 a month (the norm I know), we snapped it up given all the hassle we've had trying to get any reduction from the £150 and them saying that there would be no special offers in the near future etc....so I wonder how come my partner couldn't secure any kind of deal but I could????? I didn't even have to argue my case whereas he got nowhere even threatening to cancel etc. I am sure some will say they could get it even cheaper but why the discrepencies in the first place?? It does seem to be a lottery as to who you speak to and how they feel at the time.
Anyway if you are one of us that couldn't get it for under £150 try now and refer to the internet deal on the Sky site for £75, you may get a good deal too.0 -

Anyway, I wouldn't pay anything like that for SkyHD. So I said I'd leave it. Then he asked me how much I'd be willing to pay. So I told him no more than £100, since no installation would be required. He replied, "ok sir, when we have SkyHD for £100 or less we'll contact you".

Spot on. Phoned sky, pressed the numbers for cancellation and just said we were disappointed that after 4 years they couldn't do anything for us. Straight away they (scottish this time) offered a free engineer visit this week!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Phoned Sky to see if I could get it half price (didnt say that of course, said I want to cancel)due a baby coming along. She was really nice but wouldnt give me any offers, just wanted to cut down all my mixes and take sports away! Told her will probably still cancel as we will just argue about what mixes we need etc, she didnt budge, said I would discuss it with my hubby and call back. Argh!:jWaiting for the comping fairy to arrive, a big thank you to all that post comps:j0

Just phoned Sky today to cancel and was offered £5 per month for News & Events package only and £25 credit to my account. When I said this was no good and all we watched anyway were the cartoons (I've got kids! ) the nice lady offered me free calls - weekdays and weekends and evenings - for no charge - for a year. Lovely, so have dropped to the cheapest package - £16 pm for the kids package and get free calls!0

can anyone confirm been offered a deal on the top package or taking the movies off. i was offered it for £25 other day or top package £30. i can say now it was point of call offer. i was after the 50% off. so i said i would think about it. now having right a game with them and manager etc. who are saying i wasnt offered that offer and telling me it was me who said the £25 offer on the phone which is a blatant lie because i said virgin quoted me £20 to £25. ide watch these guys they are upto every trick in the book, and care more about signing more customers up to rip off packages. who in there right mind would be happy paying £46 roughly a month for a package full of freeview channels mainly and repeats.
there excuse is they give free calls and internet. which to my knowledge isnt upto standard like virgin, and 70% of times i call they keep pressuring me to take this on when i dont want the service just a cheap subscription, to me they are just sending a signal to my box and im already using the equipment as freeview anyway so its there loss.
i think if im forced with the choice of never getting a discount i would sign up via my mothers name get the quidco. and a standard box and flog it. because i have no sympathy for these guys, who lie through there teeths by now saying they havent any offers at all, when 9 times out of 10 people are reporting offers on the internet, and my cousin getting £100 pound wiped off his bill for defaulting, wheres the logic in this to a paying customer.0
