It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
in general is Sky or Virgin cheaper for Sky Sports package?
all i'm interested in are the sky sports channels, and having a basic broadband connection.
not bothered about any other channels particularly, don't want movies, not interested in a landline or moblie package either.
is it likely to be worth me moving from Sky to Virgin?
do Virgin do offers (other than those advertised) for new customers if you phone them and ask/haggle?:beer:0 -

I'm currently signed up to Virgin Media's 3 for £30 deal - 2MB Broadband, 'L' TV and a land line. I'm coming to the end of the year's contract, and I want to reduce my spend on this, but I'm not sure if I can manage anything. Ideally, I'd like to keep the internet, lose the land line, and reduce TV to 'M' - which is basically freeview with one or two extras as far as I can tell.
I don't get terrestrial reception (digital or analogue), so dumping cable TV is out of the question.
My mobile is £15 per month with 1500 off peak calls to any network, and unlimited O2 calls, so that'll easily cover all of my phone needs (despite the dodgy reception!)
Does anyone think I'll have any luck trying to reduce my services to just internet and the smallest TV package and save any money?
Hi, I am on Virgin M TV, 2-4gb broadband and phone package, all for £20.00 per month. I phoned and advised I was thinking of leaving as a friend got a better deal with Sky (check sky on google for current deals). Tell them that you dont watch half the TV programmes and are happoy to reduce to M package. You could also advise that a friend is getting the 3 for 20.00 and your not happy paying more. (they dont want to lose business and they offered this me for life as long as I am a customer)if i had known then what i know now0 -
Hi all
I wonder if anyone can help me with my massive bill with Virgin cable media. We have TV, broadband & 2 x telephone lines -
TV is XL package (£22) plus Sports (£18);
BB is size L £25
2x phone lines @ £11 each
£1.50 talk international
= £88.50 advance charges per month
Thanks to advice on MSE I checked with Sky & was sure that they were offering a much better deal - although we would have to rent a phoneline from BT. I got DH to phone up & all they offered us was a £14 reduction ie £74 p/m
Could anybody advise me as to : who to speak to/what to say to try & get this bill down please? I'd welcome some tips to get a decent reduction as i feel they are really conning us now.....TIA if you can helpNew start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0 -
I phoned up Sky to switch from the full package to just 2 mixes.
Without asking or haggling I was offered a deal.
For 3 months I pay £30 for full package, multi room, line rental, broad band and calls.
Bonus was I was not calling to get a deal, I was legitimatly trying to reduce my outgoings. lol.0 -
Are you still under contract with Sky?
Could cancel and become a new customer.Hi Chaps,

Hope this helps Sahanut!!
I started on Virgin 3 for £30 with a free upgrade on thephone package to XL (Free anytime calls). The initial plan after a year was to downgrade the call package to L (evening and weekend calls) but keep the rest the same and pay the same price. However Sky pushed a flyer through the door offering their basic TV package plus Sky Sports, Phone (E+W calls) and Broadband for £26/month (at the time £37.50 if you included BT line rental) so I thought I'd chance it with Virgin.
I laid my cards on the table straight-away said I was willing to ay the extra £7.50 to get Sky Sports. SO the guy initially started by setting up the basic package I wanted - L TV (No sports), L Phone and M Broadband - his came out at £32.50/month (so far more money an less service!) so I upped the anti on the sports and challenged him to match £37.50 with Sky Sports. He ended up offering me:
XL TV (to include Setanta not Sky - no great difference), L Phone and L Broadband for £36/month but £35/month if I went online and signed up for paperless biling! - he rose to my challenge admirably!
You'll notice I managed to get TV upgrade and BB upgrade in the price! Due to the complicated billing method they use (ie adding all the packages on at full price thn immediately giving discounts?!?!?!) it shows I'm getting a £25/month reduction on the price I would usually pay for these services!
This is also on for the life of my contract so no un-requested price rises or package changes!
Since then I have met an ex-Virgin employee and they have said that each CS agent is only able to offer this deal to a small number of customers each month and will only give it as a last resort when the customer has convicingly uttered words to the effect of "So long then I'll go to Sky". Therefore it is best to ring towards the start of the month (I rang on the 5th) and don't give in! I was on the phone in the end for half an hour most of which was spent thrashing through a number of different options!0 -
Been offered a great deal from Sky
Currently have Sky, Sky Broadband and Sky Talk. Wanted to upgrade to Sky+ but didn't want to pay £150 for new box and £60 install fee.
Phoned them up, and said that in the shopping centre, they are offering free Sky+, and whilst I appriciate it is for new customers, what's to stop me cancelling and my partner signing up again.
She offered me a free Sky+ box, Install fee of £30, and then said if I switched my line rental over from BT, it would be free for the first 12 months, and £10 a month after that. Couldn't say no!!
She also said I could get sky multiroom with my old box, for £5 a month, but didn't go for that.
Saved £300 in total! :beer::money:0 -
Hi,
Hoping someone here could give me some advice. I currently have Sky tv and am considering upgrading to sky+. I have the full sports package which costs me about £38pm. However i do not have Setanta sports. I see that Virgin Media offer a similar package to sky but this includes Setanta sports all for £38.50 the catch is you have to have line rental from them or else the same package will cost £45.50.
My question is does anyone know of a way i can haggle this down? I've called them twice already but they aren't having any of it!
Thanks,
fred0
