I was thinking about moving to Sky for the Sky+ box mainly so I phoned Virgin to see what I could get.

I had

TV L
BB M (2mb)
Talk unlimited

All for £37.95 per month

Now got

TV XL
V+
Extra Box
Talk eve & weekends
BB L (10Mb)

£40

I have to pay the £30 installation as they would not budge on that but overall quite happy

Rang Sky this morning to cancel my Sky Sports package. The chap asked why and i told him i was ringing from work, and as i work most weekends i missed the Golf on sky sports which is what i got the package for. Without promting him, he offered free Sky+ and free installation. All in all it took under 15 mins and will be installed on Tuesday. Very happy.

My freesat ordinary sky digital has gone faulty (no signal at all) so I’m wondering if there’s any chance I might get skyplus installed for free?

I’ve been on freesat for well over a year now probably more near 2 years but I think they still have my customer number.

How much would it cost me a month once skyplus is installed? I used to have the family pack so something similar to that unless the movies have a really good offer on.

What is the best deal I could get?
Thanx

I rang Sky tonight and tried to get a good deal for new Sky+ box (I have been with them for 13 years and thought they might offer me something nice). They offered me new box and installation for £135. I said I'd think about it - Hmmm no thanks

I wish I had seen this before or I would have saved even more myself and done my neighbour a favour by getting him a free Sky+ upgrade
YOU can get a free Sky+ box or pay only £75 for a sky+HD box (+£30 installation in both cases) You need only subscribe to the minimum Sky package @ £16 per month for minimum of 12 months. You must be a NEW customer - you can get around this if you have recently left Sky by re applying in your partners name it doesnt matter that the address and phone number are the same the title and first name are what they look at !
If anyone wants to be introduced by me just e mail me court@ezglide.freeserve.co.uk with your first name last name and e mail address I will send a referral Sky will e mail you with instructions and if you join Sky before the end of this month YOU will get your free Sky+ box or £75 HD box and I will get a £50 Marks and Spencer voucher
I would appreciate some referrals but if you would rather go through an existing friend you can do that too (but I hope you do it through me !)

I am paying £40 from September (38 now?) for the sky sports package as i like the cricket and footie. But I think this is too expensive now, even though I do like the sports I do need to cut down on my outgoings. If I could get a deal I would keep it, or if not I will cancel.

So i was going to cancel, but wonder whether there is a chance they might reduce it if I plead poverty - have been with them years. Could I argue I could get Setanta for less, or is there a better line to use (not that bothered about getting free sky + as want to cut my bill) ?

To compare, I have just looked at virgin and its £20.50 with setanta (have to take phone, which i'm not ever so bothered about though) or can do £11 pack with sky sports £26 - i think! But thats £36 so not much better.

Thanks for any advice you can offer....

I hope this may help anyone out there trying to save a few quid.

My original package was 6mix and extra sub £31 p.m

and Setanta (only for boxing) £12.99 p.m

Rang Setanta 0191 5013601 to cancel but was offered £7.50 p.m for 6 months

Rang Sky reduced to 4 mix (£2 less pm) and was offered the extra sub for half price for 6 months

Total saving each month £12.49

Its always worth trying. I was prepared to give up Setanta and the extra sub if necessary but the saving changed my mind (for now)

I rang Setanta yesterday to cancel and was offered the £12.99 offer which was swiftly turned down. When the £7.50 offer was made and I received clarification it would be received in writing I agreed

Anyone managed to blag Sky HD without the £10/month supplement?

If so, please post your strategy here for other 'grabbit' readers.
