According to Stuff magazine It seems that Sky are reducing the cost of their HD box to £150 regardless of whether you are a new or existing customer! Its not on their website yet, but will be renamed Sky+ HD and will have a new all singing all dancing EPG etc.

Sounds good, until you get to the installation costs - £30 for a new customer, £60 if you are an existing customer!!!

Why do existing customers have to pay more for installation when there is already a dish in place and they just have to put in a new box!
    Grrrrrr

Whose got the best deal as things seem to have changed re transmission rights is it Sky or Setanta?
    It pays to challenge
  • This is an interesting article I found on the web relating to Sky HD and current pricing issues - as we all thought Sky are losing customers to freeview and freesat and will need to reign in their prices to stop the rot rather than keep pushing the now outdated sky+ with expensive advertising campaigns. Good news for the consumer if it comes to pass. To all those 'ex sky customers' like me waiting for a sensible deal on HD 'hold fast' its coming !

Hi everyone, I've just rung sky and pretended to be a technophobe who couldn't work out how to record fron my standard sky box, that I was going to get a hard drive recorder and switch to freesat and they sold me a sky+ box for £49!

How is it spam? Perhaps inappropriate, but look at the guy's post count, he's only just registered. Give him a break. And change you're signature, it's irritating.

Finally found what I'm looking for ! HD for a sensible price - this is only available online I'm not even sure the call centre staff are aware of its existance
    http://packages.sky.com/offers/hdfor99/?affiliate=true&CMP=AFC-UKesalesAffiliates&P36=8TKYDA&PURL=skytv.at/hotukdeals
this offer ends 23/6/08 and is available for wait for it 'NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY' however a very helpfull man from sky told me you will be regarded as a new customer if you have not had an account in your name for over 12 months and if you have reapply in your wife/partners name as she will be regarded as a new customer even if the address and phone number are the same as previous. My wifes getting my sky hd fitted next week if all goes well so watch this space !
  • Do you get Sky+ with this offer?
    Is it £99 for HD
    £30 connection
Then whatever it costs for Sky +
