  • Sky+HD for £99 + £30 installation one off cost
then £16 for 1 mix or up to £45 for sky world + £10 for hd (monthly)
i.e. my package for £26 per month 1 mix + HD subscription
    hope this is clear now
  • Yes. I've gone for the SkyHD+ for £99 plus £30 installation and the £16 one mix and the £10 Sky HD subscription (which I suppose is the recording facility).

One off cost of £129 and monthly subscription of £26.

I think that's pretty good. Is it?
  • Already had Sky abut wanted Sky+ - stopped at one of the town centre kiosks and was offered the following

    Sky+
    2gb Broadband
    Sky Talk

£30 the lot including all kit and installation

Monthly fees £21 per month for Sky+ complete viewing package (Sport and Films one month free), Multiroom £10 per month, Broadband Free and phone £5.

After a month I'll cancel the sport and film (maybe they'll give me a free extension - no bothered really had it two weeks and have only watched one programme.

    The Pitfalls.
I had to have it installed in my wifes name as I was an existing cutomer. This caused some difficulty when phoning customer services because they work on either post code or phone number and kept bring up my "old/other" account.
They have sent me 4 lots of viewing cards, the first three never turned up????? and the wireless part of the router went kaput after about a week and have had to have a new one sent to me.

But it's all up and running now.

I'll give it a week or so and cancel my old account - which is now in my son's room - and who knows they might offer me a deal to stay with them for a bit longer which will please him.

Hi everyone, I've just rung sky and pretended to be a technophobe who couldn't work out how to record fron my standard sky box, that I was going to get a hard drive recorder and switch to freesat and they sold me a sky+ box for £49!

Which department did you speak to?

    Hi All,

just to update on my recent experience on getting a free Sky+ box and installation.

Rang the customer support on number on sky.co.uk webpage - selected option for cancelling the tv subscription. Did this early in the week, think it was Tues afternoon.

Got through and thought I wasn't going to get anywhere, the guy explained that a 30day notice period would be in place and that it could be cancelled today. I asked a few questions about what notice period ment and he then asked me if I wanted to cancel. Bit the bullet and said yes please. He went on then to ask reasons why - said there were arguments about what could be watched and also seemed to be a problem with digibox.

He then said would I mind answering a few questions about tv to see if there was anything he could do. Few questions about number of people in family and what their viewing habits were - what sort of programs were watched. He mentioned skyplus as being great. Then more questions about telephone and broadband usage.

Put me on hold and came back with 2 options including skytalk, broadband in various combinations - offers only valid on the call and may not be available if I called back later. Told him I was happy with current phone and broadband providers and wouldn't be prepared to change. Put me on hold again, came back with multiroom and skyplus for £99 offer. Said multiroom was too much extra cost for me at £10 per month and didn't really need it as we had freesat already in another room, so he offered skyplus at £99. Said it was a lot of money but liked the idea of being able to record and watch...etc. Put on hold again, came back with £49 offer, said it was too much for me at this stage and couldn't justify it. On hold again, and came back with as you are valued customer then do it for free.

Took about 45 mins, but worth it. Will be installed in around just over a week's time.

i spoke to sky last night i have 2 sky+ boxes told them wanted to cancel bllah blah blah... nice young girl told me that they have no offers on hd at the moment but next month the price is coming down, she told me to hang fire and call back after the price drop as they will be trying to retain customer to compete with freesat HD. she said wink wink if you call back and dont take the 1st answer you get im sure you could get the HD box for £49.99 oh and there is a very good chance the £10 monthly charge will also be going. we can only hope.

O.k guys just wondering if anyone could help me. Have had sky for 18mths, found this forum and tried the threaten to cancel technique to get a sky plus box. Anyway they called my bluff and would only offer me one at £49. Said no and was under the impression I had 30 days to cancel the cancellation.
Anyway realised today that tommorow will be the 30th day so rang up to cancel the cancellation. Have been told can't have anymore offers not even the sky+ box for £49 and that they can't cancel it so its being switched off tommorow. I don't want to lose sky but they are being a right pain and was wondering if anyone could advise me on the next step.
I thought I would be ok up to the 30 days. Is there anything I can do?
    Many thanks in advance

go without sky for a week or so and then ring back and sign up again using partner's name if you have one. that'll be a new account so you can sign up as a referral from someone else and get sky+ for free.

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper I've helped Parliament
Not a discount but something to watch for with VM.

Twice now when billing is being changed they have stopped the wrong DD and put late payment charges on the account, had to phone to get them removed so check the accounts carefully.

First time was when I changed to modem for BB so they were setting up seperte billing managed to delete the main one.

This time was the billing merge that has been going on, deleted the main DD not the BB one, a new DD was set up before the next bill but they still left a late payment charge on the new bill.
