Thanks Photome, I've now cancelled sky and will give freesat a go when sky switches off it's channels in August.

They did offer me Sky+ for £49 and no installation, but I was only going to stay if they offered it for free. I've been on their top package for 7 years, so consider that it's the least they can do to repay my loyalty.

I'm actually quite looking forward to a sky-free life for a bit, and should have some more spending money each month now as well!

I cancelled sky on the 16 Jul just do not watch sky much anymore, why I posted the "try the email" was that some folk get stuck on the phone waiting and end up paying loads for the pleasure of talking to them, it cost me nothing.

Looking for a new deal with Virgin.

    At present I have:

    XL Package
    Extra box (with XL)
    Dial-up internet
    Standard phone
    Extra phone line (for internet)

This is costing about £86 a month!!!!

Called retentions and coz my pc does not have an ethernet point the said it could not be hooked up to broadband but could offet £2.50 per month, Yep a grand £2.50!!!

They said if I could make my pc broadband friendly they could offer me:

    XL TV
    Extra box (with XL)
    2meg Broadband (or posibly 4mb)
And their Talk Unlimited phone on one line (I would not need the 2nd line).
    All for £68 pm
(Would have to sign up for a year)

Spoke to a mate and he says I can buy an ethernet thingy and he would fit it for about £5.

I stilll think £68 is quite expensive, can anybody give me an idea how much I can try and haggle for?

British Dragon says he got one on 4/7/07 for
    XL tv
    Standard phone
    Extra set top
and 20mg broadband for only "40.50 for a year!

I can only agree! With yet another mortgage rise I was looking for any way to save money so got in touch with Sky. Did the whole reconsider package / haggle / loyal customer thing. Result - nothing worthwhile, just the usual Sky+ promo.

The CS rep even said that they don't do deals any more no matter how long someone has been a customer and haven't done for over a year.

Anyway, I'll soon be an ex-customer using my Sky box to get Freesat - and to satisfy my love of recent movies, DVDs from EasyCinema by post.

Saving: around £25 a month, with not much impact on my viewing. Should have done it ages ago, really!

finally gave in!!!!!!!!!........they obviously know my (our) game!!

with the matchplay darts having started and football season looming etc. i couldn't wait any longer......

in the month since my sky finished i hadn't received any calls or mailshots (probably because i kept pestering them!! LOL).

rang up again today and reduced my sky sports world package to 4 mix and accepted their measly 10% off for 3 months!!

  • I have been a customer now for years, and now even get my calls and broadband from them.
I have tried alsorts to try and get the sky+ cheap, or free. Including cancelling my subscription. I was told to go ahead, and started to process over the phone. I phoned them back the day before cancellation, as I had heard nothing.
At one point I blatantly phoned and asked them for a deal, and a really nice guy, or so I thought, was going to give me a call back, and do a deal. Free connection, and the box for £49. Never heard a thing since. I phoned back, and no-one knew what I was talking about.
A few months ago, I started harassing them via their site, on their recommend a perk. Hopefully they will get fed up of me.
I dont mind paying some money for the box, but I do not see the justification in paying £99 and connection.
Any more suggestions, or any help from any sky workers out there, is appreciated. Footie season is fastly approaching, and I'm surrounded by a house full of footy mad fans.

hi kibs did you manage to get a deal yet? i had the same trouble rang about five times before i got what i wanted. i got a brand new sky + box for £49 with free instalation. i said i wanted to cancel as bt had offered me their bt vision box (worth £200) for free to take up their service i was first offered sky + for £99 plus installation, i refused, then it was £49 plus installation again i refused then sky's "final" offer of £49 including installation which i snapped up, worth a go the sky+ box is great can even set it to record with a text message. good luck hope this helps.

We cancelled in may, my brother phoned up the other day saying how hes considering getting sky back. They offered us a brand new sky plus box, free installation, 10% off for 3 months on any package providing we take the top broadband as well. Hope this helps people looking to get sky back before the football season begins

Haven't SKY got a deal on at the minute 1/2 price sky for 12 mths?

Is for new customers only i think, but are you not a new customer if you cancel and then go back?

    Regards

    Pete
