I said a few posts back that if you change packages and cancel sky cannot cope and will foul up. Well they have not failed to disapoint.

I cancelled some months ago and they have been taking money DD ever since. I rang up to complain and they said there was nothing on there system. I stood my ground. got my money back. free mths viewing and £30 comp thrown in. Wait a while and start again they can't cope with all the messing about. If you want to save money you have to pick and and chose monthly they will mess up or forget to turn you off. But the more who do it the more it will cost them and they may go back to deals. Just spread the word. He tried the sky plus route but I did not want to get tied in. He did say that there will be something in the post for loyal customers. I said how much are you going to give me now LoL.

    still not heard from them..........

maybe they don't want me back given they've probably gots lots of virgin customers migrating over due to 'lost' (excuse the pun!!) channels.......

looks like i might have to swallow my pride, bite the bullet and stump up full price!!!!

sky have too much of a monopoly, there needs to be more competition....

Sky rang me tonight offering me free sky+ with free installation, didnt ask if it was 40 or 80gb or if it was refurbished but I refused the offer anyway, I said I'd think about it. They mentioned something about free movies for a period, not sure if that meant it would be another 12 month contract and 10% off the price for a while, cant rem how long

Can anyone tell me if they charge extra per month if I had my old skybox put upstairs and would they do this for me when they installed the new box if I had it? I've thought more about getting rid of my virgin media tv upstairs and replacing it with my old skybox if its no difference to the price I'd think about it as I'd be getting the same channels as downstairs wouldnt I?
    Thanx

Just rang sky and they have reduced the cost of my subscribtion for 3 months. I'm currently on 6 mix, Sky Movies currently £37.00 going to be soon £38.00 now for 3 months £25.00. I complain that the same movies are repeat and didn't really understand why they have this sky premier + 1 channel when they say every has got Sky + and they could record it off the sky premier channel and watch it when they want.

    I hope this helps someone

Just called sky and they have given me a refurb sky + box foc. Added BB Max also. Very helpful chap called stuart sorted me out :)

Fitted monday am. I called on customer services and asked to be put through to cancellations.

I had previously been offered sky+ for £49.99 and asked nicely if they could do it for free I would bring my BB to them also.

    Indeed they are :(

I've just come to the end of the £10 off for a year subs and have been watching what other loyal Sky subscribers have been getting.
It would seem that if you don't have Sky+ then you've got a good chance but for those who have then nothing.

So today, I have now reduced my pack to £18 for four mixes for the time being. I dropped the news package seeing as you get Sky news and of course BBC news for free and the music mix as you can watch videos online.

I'm not paying them anymore than I have to. At least Sky+ operation is now free.

  • BEWARE OF SKY SPECIAL OFFERS In 2006, I telephoned Sky to get Freesat and was persuaded by the operator to pay £10 per month for 12 months, so that I would pay £120 instead of an immediate payment of £150. She also said I could choose two additional programme packages, in the hope I would remain a Sky subscriber. I told the operator quite clearly that I wanted Freesat and did not want to be a subscriber and that I wanted only the one year contract so my total outlay would be only £120.

If you are offered a package like this, write immediately to Sky and state that you wish only the one year contract and arrange for your direct debit with the bank to expire at the end of the contract. Sky will not accept you entered into a verbal contract and if you do not cancel as indicated, they thrive on inertia, upping your direct debit payments to (currently) £15 per month. Letters I have written to their so called customer care department have not received individualised replies and Sky immediately threatens with debt collectors and court action even for a "debt" of £30.

I wish I had gone to Freeview and had never become a customer of Sky. Their virtual monopoly of satellite tv in non-cable rural areas will I hope be eventually destroyed to give consumers more choice.

Do you mean that if you cancel your Sky subscription and you only want the channels that are left, then you have to pay for them? Is that what Freesat is? I thought you could just cancel and use it for BBC, ITV, etc. I don't have a normal aerial and I watch everything through the Sky box. I don't fancy having to pay £120 for the priviledge!
