And you're here studying for your thesis on money grubbers rather than actually wanting to save some yourself I suppose?

As my 25% off one year deal expired on the full package + multiroom I rang asking to cancel. Basically they called my bluff offering only downgrading packages at bog standard prices. I went ahead in tendering 30 days notice.

Rang back this morning intending to cancel my multiroom and down to the £21 package for my final 30 days however initially Customer Services refused as apparently the T&Cs state that once an account is in a Pending Cancellation state no further changes can be made. Eventually I insisted on being transfered to Cancellations but there was now't they could do unless my cancellation was removed. Call transfer number two led to my account being reactivated and then transfer three back to Customer Services enabled them to action my initial request. However when I mentioned the 3 months @ £1 Summer Sky Movies they said "no prob". So I'm now paying £22 per month for the next 3 months for everything apart from Sky Sports.

    Hope this will help someone

I called today to cancel as I was looking at the VM deal with V+. ALso my BT bb option 3 is up at the same time. I got offered a New sky+ box for £49.99 and no movements at all.

I mentioned that I was considering moving BB to 16MB Sky BB and the nice lady picked up on my prompt and said the usual but that the lowest she could go to was £49.99 for a new box?! I mentioned refurbs or sky+ for free to compete with VM but she said they could not offer it.

I mentioned I could get the box free on VM but that just went into the script of 'you get to keep your sky equipment after 12 months etc etc'. I am on the max package available and have been for past 2 years.

    Any help or ideas appreciated.

I said I would call back Friday to cancel.

    Thanks.

    :)

  • I have just come off the telephone to sky after speaking to a very nice man called John.
Was really helpful and not at all @rsey.
Explained that I was "thinking" of cancelling as I was not impressed with the new Sky movies format coupled with the fact that I am on my THIRD sky+ box in 12 months and I managed to get my subscription down from.....
    £53.50   to £38.00 :j
(He Offered Me £40 initially and I asked if he could make it £35!!:o )

I get to keep my sky multiroom and don't really lose many channels either! Just a few obscure ones .. oh and sky horror movies (i think.... )
Probably not a good deal to some but to me I have saved £15.50 a month to go in my pig OINK! :grinheart OINK!
Plus didn't want to push too hard as we cannot get a t.v. reception where we are so need sky!

I haven't rung up to haggle the price and threaten cancellation before but I did get a sky+ box for £99(incl installation) and multi room for an extra £10 a month last July .Plus I did contact them after I had had my installation about how excellent the service I had received was! The man was really neat and fussy about where he put the cables and even hunted on the van for a white cable to go inside and he attached it to the wall underneath the radiator so that it couldn't really be seen....(sorry I'm rambling now!)
I also apologised for moaning and that I wasn't holding him(john) responsible for my disappointment.
Been with Sky now about 7 years .

I currently pay £44 per month for the full package and have been a customer for the last 5 years, i have had two discount offers during that time (50% for 3 months, the last of these ran out last september) but reading the previous posts no current offers appear worth while if you want to retain all the channels? (Please correct me if i am wrong) and today to add insult to injury i have had a letter informing me of my THIRD  price increase within a year to £45 per month.:naughty:

Since currently - Lost, 24, football, golf (gone to Sentana, sorry SKYtana) and rank films, basically the main progrmas i watch have all finished there really is no reason not to cancel (except 8yr old son will probably hire a hitman). Why are SKY so confident of not losing a big proportion of there customers? I have noticed in previous years that summer is a notoriously poor period for channel content. I would of thought if any offers were going to be forth coming now would be the time?

Question if i cancel (Which is very likely) until the programmes i watch return, will i be able to use my SKY+ box as a freeview whilst retaining the recording facility for nothing (I understand the £10 fee is dropped from 1st July)? And hopefully i will at least get some kind of offer to tempt me back when i'm ready to subscrible again.
