Hi to all still quite new to this site... Ive been with sky for just over three years and really want sky plus. Whats the best way to go about it, because it seems all the best deals go to new customers. Im paying £37.06 and get everything except sports... Going up to £38 at the end of the month. Any ideas on how to get the best sky + deal or maybe a better current deal. Thanx to all. daniel-2412:j

I would suggest cancelling down to the basic 6 package deal (£21'ish) and then ringing 08705 166 661 a couple of days later and quote "Summer Sky Movies Offer" they will give you the movie package for the next 3 months for £1.00 a month. You should then receive your current package for £22 for 3 months (excluding price increase).

I phoned to cancel my Sky subscription today but they won't as it's in my dh's name, and he's working overseas right now. He says he'll do it when he comes home.

I was simmering away after twice phoning them enquiring about getting Sky HD. I read on another forum that some people were being offered the HD box for £149 with free installation, but it's only available to those with Sky+ (I only have Sky digital but i'm on the £37 package. I've been with Sky since 1992). I was told the offer was for the loyalty shown by Sky+ customers. What about us who have been with them for years? I refuse to pay £359 (£299 for HD box and £60 for installation)for something that some people are getting for £149.

They did offer me free installation if I got multiroom (which I don't want) and anyway that would take my monthly subscription from £37 to £57 (soon to be £58). I'm willing to pay the £10 a month to get HD, but I don't want multiroom.

I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face in cancelling, but i'm so mad at them that I don't care. We can't get Freeview here, we can't get cable, we don't even get Channel 5 on analogue!

I'm just going to have to wait until the price comes down. I'm not paying on principle!

hi all, my wife rang yesterday to inquire about moving home and upgrading to sky hd. we are on sky+ ( older box, no sky anytime ) and top package. we were aware about bg employees getting hd for £149 with free install, as her friends hubby works for bg and they have just upgraded.

after about 40mins on the phone, the guy in the 'turnaround' dept offers it to us for £199 and free install, we accept, and then he puts us back through to sales to do the necessary, when sales eventually answer they say, yes we can see that youve been offered a deal, but you can't have it!!!!

the phonecall goes on for another 40 mins, 88mins in all, no joy, they wouldnt budge, apparently the guy who offered it at £199 was 'new' and it was a 'training issue'. apparently we only qualify if we get sent a mailshot, but sky couldnt guarantee we would recieve one.

after going around the world, ( call centres in india, scotland, and somewhere down south ) and answering security questions 5 times during the same call, my wife finally cracked, and told them we were cancelling our agreement.

well done sky, youve lost a grade 1 customer, who's had the top pack for the majority of our seven year association.

must be a new one, offering a deal and then retracting it?

They seem to be quite random about who gets their offers. I'd love to know their method. I phoned 2 different numbers today. One girl sounded promising but she went and got her supervisor, who was a plank! Like I said, we've been with them for 15 years. I can't wait until dh gets home so we can cancel it. It'll give me great satisfaction.

I don't think I'm out of my 12 month sky contract but I also received notice that my sky bill is going to increase, would this mean that it would invalidate the contract as I did not agree to pay this new price? Am I free to negotitate a new deal now?

Can anybody recall exactly how many price increases there have been recently, by my reckoning it is 6 (£37 - £45) in the last two and half years???
Roughly 21% not exactly in line with inflation

The problem we have is that there is no cable in our area = No competition

I'm on the movie package with the 6 mix. It's going up from £37 to £38. Different packages are going up by different amounts though.
