I phoned Sky today and explained that as I was never at home when my favourite shows are on I wanted to cancel and wanted to know how much notice to give. The chap very nicely then asked if I had thought about Sky+ to which I replied that although I liked the idea, I just couldn't afford the cost. He then proceeded to tell me that as I had been a customer for 5 years he could let me have Sky+ box for £49 free installation and he would waive the £10 pm subscription. I said that was all very enticing but I couldn't afford £49 at the moment, what with holidays coming up and all. So he said that they had all kinds of different offers on all the time and suggested I call back tomorrow am. He said he couldn't give me more details as the conversations get recorded. So, I will ring back tomorrow am try and see if I can speak to the same chap again, and see what he can offer me. Will let you all know what offer I get.

Sky missed me on the phone a few times lately after trying to entice me back. I pay £10 for the Sky+ but no subs, all they offered recently was £15 with channels and the Sky+ being free.

I'm thinking of threatening to get a Freeview PVR or go to Virgin to see if they offer me anything. Frankly I'm not missing too much on the missing channels but paying £10 for nothing against £15 for a fair amount doesn't seem sensible in the long term.

Only problem is getting someone else on the line who refuses to give anything away.
    Good luck

Right, phoned them again today but couldn't get them to improve on £49 for latest Sky+ box + free installation. So I took them up on that, after all still a good price, Sky+ being fitted 4th July!

I phoned up and said that I was considering moving over to Virgin because I had seen an advert about V+ with its HD capability (even though you can't see much HD content on Virgin!) I was offered £49 with free installation. I tried to push for a refurb box but was told that they had run out of stock and that these refurb boxes were not compatible with Sky Anytime. So I took them up on the Sky+ deal (my current digibox is causing problems anyway!)

As my 25% off one year deal expired on the full package + multiroom I rang asking to cancel. Basically they called my bluff offering only downgrading packages at bog standard prices.

I went ahead in tendering 30 days notice.
