Called up Sky retentions yesterday to threaten to cancel for the second time.
They must be in a strong position, presumably with lots of VirginMedia customers coming on board. All they suggested was I reduce my package. No other incentive to stay.
it seems that all the old discounts such as 50% off for 3 months, 20% off for 12 months are all gone at the moment.
they're pushing sky+ and that's it.
my 20% off for a year ran out last month and they're not offering anything at the moment. though i managed to make them drop the £65 engineer charge when i had a call out last week for my duff box.0 -

Well 2nd time round they sent me a mailing offering me a free `A` grade refurbished sky+ box to return to sky.
Limited offer again though of course0 -
My latest 12 month 25% discount is up at the end of next month and I was going to go for the cancellation option again, see what they offered. As I understand it if I do cancel then although I will get the "free" channels my sky+ will no longer operate. Where does subscribing to Setanta fall in this. I took a punt on the free 12 month Setanta bet on the Derby and so will have it gratis. Does this count towards having Sky+?0

Just a question about Sky Anytime on TV.
They're currently advertising that if you press the red button in the Sky Planner it will give you access to Sky Anytime.
However, what they fail to tell you as that it only works if you have one of the newer Sky+ boxes with the larger Hard Drive.
So my question is this:
What about those of us with the old boxes?
Are we within our rights to demand a new box for free?
After all, they are basically rolling out a new benefit at the same price, so either I should get a reduction or a free new box!
And their Anytime PC is useless.... can't even register my viewing card(s). Both say they are either already registered or not valid. They aren't registered...... and if they aren't valid, how can I be using them to watch TV?!??!0 -
Just recieved letter from Virgin today advising they are changing all Direct Debits from July so every one has the same billing and collection date. whats the betting they bill us all wrong!Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p0

Hi guys, I just thought I would let you know that when I cancelled Sky due to it not having anything to offer me they initially came back and wanted to give me 3 months at half price (no suprise there!) but I stuck with my decision. However about a week later they came back offering me a free Sky + Box and installation plus £25 credit. I still declined due to the fact that regardless of how fancy the equipment was I just couldn't justify paying for Sky any longer but I hope that some of you out there can get the same deal.
Good hunting.0 -
Be careful when threating to cancel. I got offered £3.50 off top package, free sky+, free sky talk unlimited and credit for broadband activation fee. Said I wanted to think about it and asked for details to be saved. When I rang back no details were saved. I found out that these are point of call offers and may not be available later. All I got offered was the sky +. Cancelled after that. When I called again all offers had gone:mad:
Waited two weeks - now got new sky+ at £49.99 and the waived broadband fee only. Skytalk no longer available
Have learnt a valuable lesson0
