I took up the offer and received an A grade Pace box. I've tried but have been completely unable to find any sign that the box has been used. It's spotless and whisper quiet....0 -
We are thinking about getting sky. Looked on their site - seems ok - but reading this seems like alot of people can get alot better offers than what they have available of the website. Never been with sky but want a really good deal. Any ideas how I can get one? and what I should ask for or say?
Many thanks:j Hayley:j
:dance:All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy. :dance:0 -
I'll try it but I'm not on sky+ its just the ordinary box.
I wouldn't bother, unless your Sky Receiver has been disconnected from the mains for a while, it will get updates automatically, I don't think your fault is related to this.
Let us know the make/model of your receiver and the software, it is in the service menu, it will look something like 3.4.4.b. or higher.0 -

does anybody know how to get a better deal from SKY than the prices that are on the internet, i want to switch but getting a better deal from VM at the minute?0 -
Been reading this thread today and took the plunge used the good reason that everybody was using 'just changed jobs different shift pattern' was going to virgin media as they had replay and i would not miss my programmes, gave me the same speel 'you can have a sky+ box for 49.00 no installation and no extra charge even keep same package. with this i agreed then he went into general chitchat about how he had just given the guy before me the same package as he had just changed jobs and would miss his programmes he thought it was strange, quickly went into overdrive and told him i had just qualified as a nurse (only job i could think of with shift patterns) and i had a new position in the local hospital, guess what his bloody partner had just qualified as a nurse and he started asking me all questions about the job to compare with hers i didn't have a clue what he was going on about made my excuses and hung up. thanks anyway to you all for the hints and tips.
If you are unsure about using the shift story.
I used the following last night. Phoned the 01506 number and asked to cancel. After being put through I mentioned that I wanted to cancel due to the fact that I had spoken to VM about their V+ Box (same service as SKY+ but a little better spec), and they had agreed to install a free V+ box plus free installation and all the channels I have with SKY for £4 less a month.
They tried the spin that if you cancel with VM they take all your kit away, whereas SKY don't, blah, blah. I kept on reminding them that I don't see why I should pay £99 for SKY+ whereas as VM are giving them away free and can beat my monthly payment too. Then was offered £49 for SKY+, again mentioned but VM are giving it for free. Finally the guy said "what if I could tell you that as a special deal I'll wavier the SKY+ box fee and give you free installation". Of course I sounded "could you do that?" (with a big grin on my face lol) "That would be great....."
And so the story ends, SKY+, free installation this Friday. Me getting what I want, and the SKY guy thinking he's done me a favour and feeling pleased with himself for retaining a customer :rotfl:
Was on the phone for a little over 20 minutes, but then we were having a chat too.
One thing I'd found out about getting deals is that if you are pleasant to them and have done your homework (ie. know before you call what you are going to say as a reason). Let the operators think they have done you a favour, it makes their day, they hit their retention targets, whilst all along you knew what you were aiming for anyway.Financial Aims for 2012:
