i'm increasingly starting to think maybe kerry was a mole for sky..........getting out details...........so when we phone up 'pretending' we want to cancel, they'll call our bluff knowing we're moneysavers just looking to save a few quid!!!

hope i'm wrong and kerry will be in touch soon or at least do a general post. see hasn't posted since 10/5/07

I telephoned Sky, Ricky answered and I explained what had happened. He offered an engineer to come out at a price of £65. I said I would rather cancel so he transferred my call to cancellations. Eventually James answered after 17 minutes and he said he was going to speak to his manager to see if they could waive the fee. James came back to the telephone and said that he spoke to his manager and that they would waive the fee. They offered to come out on Tuesday but I said I would prefer Wednesday so they are coming out on Wednesday. I was on the telephone for a total of 28 1/2 minutes. The call was free as I get free local evening calls and the engineer is free too. :j :rotfl: :T

When I came off the telephone hubby said "Martin scores again"!! :money:

The Sky engineer came yesterday and tested our signal, he said it was 99% but that is the best signal you can get as the machine only reads to 99%. Therefore the fault was in our sky box and he replaced it with a reconditioned one which he said was 3 years old. He also said that we have a 3 month warranty with it.

Our Sky is working again and we didn't pay the £65 fee!! :money: :j

I don't know if sky would go to that trouble but I wouldnt feel happy giving my account details to someone off a website anyway if people were doing that.

Maybe she just got overwhelmed by so many people asking for help as she does it as a full time job so its like a lot of unpaid overtime for her. I'm sure we will all find out when deals are coming on with sky anyway
    Thanx

Just rang to cancel. First offer I got, free sky+ box, free installation, £20 credit to cover sky+ charge til July, and still kept my current half price movies package. Installation next Tuesday.

No effort, no fuss and a really nice lady helping me out.:D :D

Confirmed that the sky+ charge stops from July.

    Result heh?

Kerry, if you catch up with this post, obviously there's no need to help me out anymore. Thanks anyway;)

My OH phoned last night, he really did want to cancel. It took three phone calls during which he spoke to at least seven different people. No one would accept his cancellation on the cheap numbers, nor did any one make him any offers, he had to phone the 0870 number in the end. Boy, was he mad!
  • Sky customer for 5 years, was on 6 mix package, now on 4 mix

Called Sky earlier after speaking to Roscoepeko who got the deal first. Spoke to random guy on the 0870 number doing channel upgrades. Mentioned the key words 'Virgin Media' and 'Cancellation' and was put through to their 'Programme Support Team'. Innocently sat there while the operator 'sold' me this amazing deal! "Have you heard of Sky+?" Errr...yeah, but worried about the £10 charge........

She offered recon box, free install and waved the £20 cost for next couple of months. She didn't mention the fact that their getting rid of the Sky+ £10 charge in July anyway!! She claimed that the reason for giving me 2 months back was because it takes 2 months for their systems to update!! Hmmm.....modern billing sytem taking 2 months to update? I smell a rat! I asked about the recon box and was told I could have a new one for £49, so opted for recon. She said it had 12 months warranty and guaranteed "the recons have completely new guts in them ("I woudn't say it if it wasn't true")!. I'm guessing this isn't true, perhaps one of the technical people on here could shed some light?

I'll check with engineer on Tuesday about the recon and if it's not all new insides I'll go back to Sky.

If you're waiting for Kerry or anybody else to sort deals, it's worth giving it a go yourself. I only get SKy 4 mix for £18 now with no broadband or telephone and still got the deal. Good luck!

Tell her a pig just flew past your window.

Sky rarely let the truth get in the way of a sale.

Did they charge for moving the old sky tv upstairs? and will there be a charge on top for having that one running upstairs too each month?

What is the biggest hardrive they have on the sky plus boxes now?

I thought I read somewhere on here that people were saying tv V+ boxes were better than sky+ for some reason is this right?
    Thanx
